Actually I'm volunteering at an orphanage and working with habitat for humanity there. I'm mostly going for the adventure though. :biggrin:

I've been with it the past two years here in the states. AmeriCorps. I've led about 20 houses.

What'd you bring me?

 

I saw a Habitat for humanity house get moved and renovated (it was a donation house that they trucked to a donated lot)...they fixed it up really nice

the way it works here is labor is volunteer...the person getting the house just has to help and then pay off a loan for material costs to acquire legal ownership

the guy quickly paid everything off (since almost all of it was donations) and then the market really boomed and he sold it for quite a hefty profit...I heard he made off with $100 grand more than he paid

that totally convinced me to never waste my time volunteering for them
