I saw a baby snake here a few weeks ago and wondered the same thing.

I'm sorry. My brother's body was found in the woods.

Yep, fuzzy caterpillar means a cold Winter.

Lovely pics, Ty. Do you remove the stumps later?

It sort of looks like our woods. What state, Ty?? If you don't mind my asking.

I haven't seen any baby snakes BUT I've seen about 6 different snake skins in the past 2 weeks. NONE of them were small. gad

and they all looked like the same kind of snake...and I have no idea what kind that is. :)

I got those all over the place... They aren't woolybear but are some kind of moth. Don't remember seeing them before though. New invasive species?

    It's magic...

The stumps stay, I'll kill them off next spring when the re-emerge, for now they are cut to the ground. I'll have to mow some in there to keep that stuff at bay, and unfortunately use herbicide, it's Amur Honeysuckle and the most invasive species in Ohio. Which answers your second question.

I've probably seen 20 or more between yesterday and today. Actually handled several, apparently not poisonous to me.

Not my pic, but I saw a luna moth caterpillar on Sunday. He was near the ivy. I've found a couple of empty cocoon's in the ivy when I clean it up.

I see those from time to time but I actually had a Luna Moth on my backdoor earlier this summer. I might have posted a pic. It was pretty cool. I did some reading and apparently they are nocturnal. They will land in one place and stay there all day...resting, I suppose....until night fall when they take off.

They only live to mate. They don't eat; having no mouth. I think the lifespan is less than a week. They are beautiful.
