Hit the water with a bunch of kayaks today. We drove about 45 minutes to a different river than we usually boat. I've know that river too and I have to admit...it is more fun to kayak than the river in my own back yard. Lots more rocks and rapids. My daughter had never been on this river though. The "kids" kind of got ahead of us a bit and when we came around the bend before the "waterfall" (which is the scariest, most dramatic drop with the rapids, etc.) my daughter had her boat on the shore waiting for me. This is her first year in her own boat. She's done very well but when she saw that.....she wanted to get back in the tandem kayak with her daddy to ride through that. See? I still serve a purpose! :)

But then as soon as I got her past that part....she wanted her own boat back.

I'm considering cooking salmon and vegetables for breakfast but this seems weird. Why is it ok to have breakfast cereal late at night but I feel odd cooking dinner for breakfast?!?

RF: When I started hitting the gym again last Monday, my son predicted I would put weight back on quickly (I usually drop 10-15 lbs if I take a prolonged break from working out and the accompanying diet). Weighed myself last Monday and then again today. 9 lbs heavier today. Only 14-15 more to go to hit my target weight (which I've never reached).

I'm a little surprised by 9 lbs. 3-4 lbs was about what I was expecting so 9 is good but the trick is to keep it.

No. Not really if it's just my usual weight. I have very low body fat, very toned muscle, a high metabolism and a physical job. I can keep my regular weight/build while eating anything I want and drinking as much beer as I want. But I don't eat anything I want. I actually have (what most people would say is) a pretty strict diet.

The problem with keeping my weight up comes when I'm working out 4 days/week in addition to my job, training for endurance races, etc. My calorie, protein and water intake goes up A LOT. If I'm not eating something every 2 hours or so at work, I feel like I'm starving. So then I put on a lot more lean muscle during that time...which needs more fuel. But when I get busy and stop working out that often, my diet goes back to normal and my weight starts to drop back down to what I normally weigh. So when I'm 15-18 lbs bigger....I looked pretty ripped but it takes a lot of effort to keep that.
