many school boards here now have a minimal homework policy..no way I would let my kid spend all weekend on homework...that is punishment and not teaching

so sick of hearing people in rl saying my kid is in the gifted class....I wanna choke them....ive seen people roll their eyes at moms who say this shit like it is them who are talented as opposed to the kids

This morning I found my computer mouse in the floor under the desk. It happens sometimes with cats. Today, they were attempting to edit a family photo in the Paint program.

i think the forum would look a lot funnier if posts were shaped like clouds and had a little tail to our avatars so it would look more cartoonish

After putting a coat of paint on one side of the door I've been restoring, I decided that I didn't do enough sanding before painting sooo....great. I used a palm sander this time though. I'd probably be done painting by now except for my daughter wanted to go walking in the state park this afternoon.

I did get my door hinges cleaned up though. Before I started, there was so much paint on them that you could barely even tell there was any design on them at all. Each piece was soaked in paint stripper 5 separate times>water to remove stripper>wire brush. That took a long time but I'm pleased with the outcome. I left a little paint on them on purpose because I think it gives them a little age and character. The pic is what they look like now after using a clear sealant to make sure they won't rust.

Those are cool. Of course, now we will have to see the whole door.

I'm pretty happy with the hinges but so far, I'm not too thrilled about the door yet. It's a really old door and has been through a lot of wear and tear. I never realized it until I removed the door but you can see how the bottom of the door was trimmed back on one side as the house aged and settled (so it would clear the floor). The top wasn't trimmed and as the door frame settled with the floor....that's probably what cause the door to gradually separate at the top. So now I fixed that separation and the house is straightened so we'll see how the door looks once it's hung back up.

All of this leads me to believe that this door (with it's unusual size) and the hinges were probably the originals from when that part of the house was added in 1874.

I've never been to the Super-Walmart in my town. Most of that is because I don't agree with how they treat their workers (I know several people who work there)......but a bit of it is also because I still want to be one of very few people in this town who can say they've never been there. :)

Until two weeks ago, I had boycotted for at least 6 years. I just cannot get the 30lb bag of cat food, or the 38lb box of cat litter anywhere else.

i think it was positive karma for helping that friend out yesterday

We have the farm stores around here. I can mostly get anything I'm going to need from the local farm store, hardware store, etc. But I can't say that I don't use or benefit from products from Walmart because my wife does go there once in a while...although I don't know what exactly she buys. I know she never buys food there. Mostly, I think it's things like paper towels, household stuff, etc.

I watched several episodes of Quantum Leap tonight, right after a couple of Bernie Mac Shows. I've found a good old show channel. :hurray:

Those old shows are so much better than the mess they have on now.

2 Broke Girls make me want to cut my ears off, and then the reality shows make me want to sew them over my eyes.

Lynn, go to Hulu and watch every episode of Everybody Hates Chris. If you like Bernie Mac, you'll love it.
