nothing wrong with making yard and house as much of a wonderland as you can afford to all the time on general principals. of course stressing and indenturing yourself to doing so, is another matter, and that i can't see at all. but everything that can become an outlet for imagination and creativity, well that's the only thing that makes us anything any other creature isn't. and many of them try to do so within their individual capacities too.

Nah...no stress at all. I actually arranged my schedule to be free all day so I would be able to go kayaking today buuuut......someone else made it pretty clear that the wiser decision was to do the yard stuff instead of kayaking and drinking beer with my friends all day.

Man....if they would have just went to that hotel, I would have had such an awesome day. No kayaking, no football game, no debauchery with my friends tonight. :(

Went and sat on the front patio about 1/2 hour ago... There were about 20 Dragonflies buzzing around in the yard adjacent to the house, which is a fairly small yard. They were flying in all kinds of random patterns, playing chicken, diving at each other, etc. Was quite trippy to watch.

RF: when you leave cloth things outside and there is a sudden but quick monsoon type "shower", the cloth stuff is wet FOREVER...or so it seems...

and for anybody that doesn't know this (I know many of you do), we don't have a dryer since The Mother has informed me a dryer would cause the utility bill to go up to $1000 a month (rolleyes)...its a clothes line or the drying set-up I have in the bathroom with a heater.

Also, we would have to have the right kind of electricity/plugins installed on the porch...all this old house has is the 2 prong plug ins. For anything with the 3 pronged plug-ins we use an adapter. That would NOT do for a dryer.

and ftr, when I had another life, in another place 250 miles away, I had a dryer. :)

    yay for memories. lol

Holy shit! This place is chaos! More girls showed up and are all staying. You know what that means? I had to remove all the lights from the one tent, take it down, dig out and set up a much larger tent, etc. Also got the fire started for them. Crappy music is blaring, my yard is trashed, the dog is going apeshit, I have returned to the garage. My only hope is that Dennis The Menace (the awesome 8 yr old next door) should be here soon. That will be amusing. This might be the greatest night of his life!!

Edit to say...obviously...I am missing the game since I had to do that other stuff at the last minute.

I know. I should have left before the other girls got here. Of nothing else...our keyboard player lives across the street. Maybe I'll go hang there and we can walk to the brewery. But Dennis just got here so I'll stick around for a while.

It's only going to be fun if you and Dennis do something to scare the girls.

I use to love getting my son and scaring the girls next door when they'd have sleep overs in the garage. We'd get rubber masks, stick our faces up to the windows and bang on the door.

    Great fun.

Mama was always enough to scare us away from having sleepovers...I went to the sleepover

I don't think my brother ever went anywhere that wasn't a relative's, and that was with all of us.

The only "sleepover" my son ever had was never here.

Thanks. I try. I didn't end up leaving at all tonight. The girls all seemed to hit a wall and just chill out in the tent. I've just been hanging out around the fire and listening to Dennis do what he does. That kid amuses me to no end. His parents are actually good friends of ours. He doesn't even knock on the door when he comes over....every single day. He just likes to hang out with us. I don't know...I guess since my sons are grown...I have fun hanging out with this kid. He cracks me up all the time....because he's always here!

I guess the girls are all going inside now and bailing on the tent. Shocking. I'm pretty sure I called this a few hours ago.

We couldn't do that here with my granddaughter and her friends. She will be 13 in a few weeks. I think those girls would be trying to wonder the neighborhood all night.

    It's good they went inside.

    Lock 'em up.
