Was playing "stone cutter" today... Can't imagine doing that for a living back in the 1800's for 15 cents an hour or whatever they made. Damn. Well at least they had stone chisels... I'm using an old lawnmower blade. Stone stairs are 99% complete, with walls on each side... Water feature is pretty much in place, still need to contour the soil around it, trim/prune the huge Juniper, back fill and run the plumbing. Then I have to make it look nice, which means more stone cutting....

Ordered a set of front wheels for the Cub Cadet... I'll have to make some 3/4" to 1" bearing sleeve adapters for them. Now all I need are the back tires and I'll be set for tires on all four corners. Then I'll need a gallon of Slime flat proof stuff to keep them round with these Honey Locust thorns I got. The Cub won't be mowing near the majority of those trees, but there are a few that might drop a branch or two here and there. I have no idea how many of those thorns the MTD has collected these last two years.

Deck is painted, just have to rebuild the spindles and sharpen the blades.

Speaking of "last two years"... I moved into this place two years ago today. Been a wild ride ever since.

When I get a chance to take photos... There's three major landscaping projects going on at one time, although the front patio garden is basically done now.

Cool! Looking forward to seeing it all. :)

I got my new bird house hung up this evening. No bird action so far though. I've also been trying to keep the squirrels out of a bird feeder but I didn't like the products available at my hometown-owned stores because they are huge and unsightly. Instead, I bought a piece of 18x24 inch plexiglass, trimmed it down to 18x18, drilled a hole in the middle of it and hung in on the rope about 6 inches or so above the bird feeder. It might work. There is no way for them to get to the feeder from below.

    Hi,

Long day for me with the grands out of school then to hospital.

    Hubby is better.

Even though he was admitted to the hospital with Acute Renal Failure there still has not been one nephrologist step into his room. I told the nurse that we wanted to see one so hopefully one will come round tomorrow.

He didn't have C-Diff but he did have Infectious Colitis.

Someone came round from wound care and said he toe stump is healing nicely so the visiting nurse will have him discharged from her care.

The number of issues he has going on is just insane. I actually have been keeping track as much as I've been able to. I'm just going to guess that the ER is kind of a band-aid because there are so many issues. It seems like there should be one doctor who understands the physical and psychological issues who should be able to prioritize things....but...alas....

Still working on my stand-up. I've been trying it out here and there with friends. The response is usually pretty good but one issue is...them laughing makes me laugh. But I'm gaining some confidence and I've been able to hone the delivery a bit. Nowhere near ready for a stage just yet though. I've decided to bail on the lewdest stuff in the last few days. Not totally...but you have to be funny in other ways so I wrote some new stuff. What I'm hearing so far is that my cleaner stuff is actually better than my dirtier stuff.

This is such a fun process though. To make people laugh is just....something I can't put my finger on. A couple of years ago, I was offered a radio show and my friends who know me best were like "This must happen!" I turned it down. So now those same friends are telling me the same thing about comedy...."Do it!" I'm sure they aren't lying to me. I just have to be prepared and have the balls to try something new. It's kind of funny...when I was going to do the radio show they more or less said "You don't know what he's going to say but you want to be there to hear it!". I was thinking "I don't know what I'm going to say either but I don't think I want to hear it later!" :)

I should clarify....when they said they didn't know what I was going to say....they didn't mean they expected it to necessarily be funny. They expect it to be my no-holds-barred assessment and opinion of whatever bullshit is going on around us. Totally different from being intentionally funny. I can maybe say it in a funny way but humor isn't the point.

The reason I didn't do the radio show is because the station made it very clear that they would have me on a short leash. Well...fuck that.

Stopped at the bank this morning. The teller noticed that the final payment on an equipment loan I had comes out of my account today. She said "Congratulations! That must feel pretty good!" I said "Thanks....that's funny....it's paid off today and I'm on my way to the shop where they're replacing the clutch."

Then I left and fried my battery on my Jeep. Got a jump and made it home.

My wife is on her way home in a loaner car from the dealership. At least it sounds like whatever the deal is with her car will be covered under the warranty.

Geez....everything has to break at one time! :(
