it's been brought to my attention that there's some contreversy and political stuff surrounding welcomehere.org, so I'm going to include a little disclaimer in front of that link, and just to be clear, I'm including it strictly as a source. I know nothing about the focalizers of the site, or what thier opinoins are, it's just a rainbow site that people may look at if they wish. I don't acctually even know what the deal is there, can someone fill me in?

I'm gonna try to work on the rest of wanderingturnip's stuff later, awsome input brother! I won't get a chance to do it untill tuesday at the earliest, and then we'll see where we're at.

thank you all, I love you!

thanks for the info wanderingturnip, like I said, I'm including it as a source, nothing else. Seems to me from the posts that there's some shady whatever going on, but like I told you, politics that don't concern war and massive governments seem really irrelivent to me, and frankly a little silly. When welcomehere gets a nuke I'll start worrying ;)

I think this is wonderful....HOWEVER, I think it might be a tad too long for alot of people, and they'll still end up posting the same old questions. I mean, I'm only speaking for myself so if everyone else here thinks it's okay then please feel free to ignore me. Personally, I'd just write a short "What/Who is the rainbow family" Q & A, Maybe a quick paragraph about what it means, and add the links.

Like I said, I thought it was a great post, but I think alot of newcomers here (specially the younger ones) might not take the time to read a long post.

Moonshyne, you have a really good point about it being long, I totaly agree.

So, can somone else type up a shorter one? Then we can do two stickies

"It's a Jam Band show, not a concert by the Symphony Orchestra. Every now and then, a few of the notes will be a bit off, or maybe they won't quite get all the words right."

That's hilarious! No, it's not too short. There is no short answer to the question. It's like a Zen koan. I short answer might be "I am Rainbow" or "You are Rainbow" or "Go to Welcomehome.org" but that's not what people want to hear.

i would agree .....people have a hard time understanding what rainbow is...a short answer will only leave them with more questions then answers

Oops, did you mean to finish your sentence with "...non-organization with the most non-members"?

My first thought here was that you had a wicked sense of humour, cause that link leads to a one line post that says "it's just a bunch of hippies that go into the woods for a few days and get stoned" which is true in many cases, but again, not the answer you mean to give, I'm sure.
To link directly to a post within a thread, click onto the post's number, then copy and paste the link. I think you wanted #9 in this case. Here it is.

that's true, but there are a LOT of people that won't take the time to read a long post. If you read enough posts anywhere on the forums, someone will sometimes write a really beautiful (but long) post, and underneath that will be several more posts from other people complaining about the length of it, say they didn't read it, and ask the original writer to come back and tell them what it was about.

I think, if we were to explain the very basics about rainbow, it would be better overall for the readers....just for the original post. You can still post in a sticky, so people could still reply to it and explain it in more detail if nessecary. I just think it wold be better for the people who have low attention spans and don't want to trouble themselves with reading a long post. :p

Short answer for people with short attention spans: Go to a gathering and find out for yourselves. No one will ever be able to explain it to you.

Found this on a hitchhiking forum I go to, by someone named roaddog:

a rainbow gathering (national) is made up of thousands of people, even as many as fourteen thousand or more. it occurs every summer in a different national forest park during the first week of july. july 4th is the main focus and on this day silence is held until noon for prayer for the nation and the world. rainbow started as an event to focus on world peace.
the unique thing is not just the way the gatherings are set up but the types of people who attend. there are so many different kinds of people you'll meet at a gathering, and i mean very different in view points: vets, hitchhikers, hippies, religious fanatics, police and their families, bounty hunters, truck drivers, christians, pagans, pacifists, national rifle association members, vegans, vegetarians, hunters..... i'm not exaggerating, it's amazing.
everything is supplied by donations of money, food, and labor. it's difficult to explain more without writing a chapter or a whole book.
check it out, if you ever get the chance. there are regionals and you can read more about those in the 'rainbow' section of the forum.
