No one said they don't have extra rights in theory White privilege means that you don't deal with extra difficulty. The poorest white person still has things easier then the realize and the fact that every white person is not a millionaire is often used to make your argument with tremendous anger. Every day the existence of it is prove. A fish does not know it swims and you are in the ocean right now.
What kind of evidence do you expect to find? There is data showing black people are stopped more often by police and that they face discrimination in housing. Have you ever been followed for no reason in a store? Ask a black man and many will say they have. In retail employees are trained to watch shop lifters. If they know they are being watched they less likely to steal. For all this to be true one of two others things must be true. Either black people do actuly commit most of the crime simply because they are black, lazy, and fundamentally unable to live like white people. This is the standard GOP view and depending on which voter you ask it's either KKK extremes of wanting a race war or a softer attitude of well the numbers don't lie so I refuse to feel any sorrow for them. My life has struggle too and I don't own slaves. So which is it for you? Is there a biases in society or are black people just going to commit crime because they are black and it is their culture?
So let me get this straight, Caucasians do more lynching and discrimination in housing and jobs so the difference must be genetic! Could black criminal statistics be related to 4 centuries of discrimination in housing, economic opportunities, and racism? Could the behavior of caucasians be related to the not so subtle celebration of putting people of color down, and the inter generational sanctioning of all forms of racism? The genetics of human beings are almost identical and differences trivial. How convenient to think people of color all suffer from a predisposition to “genetic flaws”.
Stop and Frisk in New York City is a a perfect example. It's not something you can easily prove and say every time racism is clearly discussed. It's a social biases. Just being a certain kind of person is trouble for some cops. BLM exists for a reason I guess and it's not be dominate the white race or take your guns or anything. The right wing could be a little more supportive if they wanted to win some new voters. http://www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/research/published/frisk9.pdf DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS in the period for which we had data, the NYPD’s records indicate that they were stopping blacks and Hispanics more of-ten than whites, in comparison to both the populations of these groups and the best estimates of the rate of crimes committed by each group. After controlling for precincts, this pattern still holds. More specifically, for violent crimes and weapons offenses, blacks and Hispanics are stopped about twice as often as whites. In contrast, for the less common stops for property and drug crimes, whites and Hispanics are stopped more of-ten than blacks, in comparison to the arrest rate for each ethnic group.A related piece of evidence is that stops of blacks and His-panics were less likely than those of whites to lead to arrest, suggesting that the standards were more relaxed for stoppingminority group members. Two different scenarios might ex-plain the lower “hit rates” for nonwhites, one that suggeststargeting of minorities and another that suggests dynamics ofracial stereotyping and a more passive form of racial prefer-ence. In the first scenario, police possibly used wider discretionand more relaxed constitutional standards in deciding to stopminority citizens. This explanation would conform to the sce-nario of “pretextual” stops discussed in several recent studiesof motor vehicle stops (e.g., Lundman and Kaufman 2003) andsuggests that the higher stop rates were intentional and purpo-sive. Alternatively, police could simply form the perception of“suspicion” more often based on a broader interpretation of thesocial cues that capture police attention and evoke official reac-tions (Alpert et al. 2005). The latter explanation conforms moreclosely to a social-psychological process of racial stereotyping, where the attribution of suspicion is more readily attached tospecific behaviors and contexts for minorities than it might befor whites (Thompson 1999; Richardson and Pittinsky 2005).We did find evidence of stops that are best explained as“racial incongruity” stops: high rates of minority stops in pre-dominantly white precincts. Indeed, being “out of place” is of-ten a trigger for suspicion (Alpert et al. 2005; Gould and Mas-trofski 2004). Racial incongruity stops are most prominent inracially homogeneous areas. For example, we observed highstop rates of African-Americans in the predominantly white19th Precinct, a sign of race-based selection of citizens for po-lice interdiction. We also observed high stop rates for whitesin several precincts in the Bronx, especially for drug crimes, most likely evidence that white drug buyers were entering pre-dominantly minority neighborhoods where street drug marketsare common. Overall, however, these were relatively infrequen tevents that produced misleading stop rates due to the population skew in such precincts To briefly summarize our findings, blacks and Hispanics rep-resented 51% and 33% of the stops while representing only26% and 24% of the New York City population. Compared with the number of arrests of each group in the previous year (used asa proxy for the rate of criminal behavior), blacks were stopped23% more often than whites and Hispanics were stopped 39%more often than whites. Controlling for precinct actually in-creased these discrepancies, with minorities between 1.5 and2.5 times as often as whites (compared with the groups’ previ-ous arrest rates in the precincts where they were stopped) for the most common categories of stops (violent crimes and drug crimes), with smaller differences for property and drug crimes. The differences in stop rates among ethnic groups are real, substantial, and not explained by previous arrest rates or precincts. Our findings do not necessarily imply that the NYPD was acting in an unfair or racist manner, however. It is quite reasonable to suppose that effective policing requires stopping and questioning many people to gather information about any given crime.
You know your right.............long before all this racism started people of color got jobs solly because of the color of their skin You said it all ..............Your absolutely right...........on all counts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You mean... By being slaves? Like, maybe "Blacks commit more crime due to their genetics" Someshyt like that....
As an African American male I know that racism robs you of your dignity. It makes the recognition of our mutual humanity difficult and challenging, and It tends to focus on how different we are, rather than how similar we are. Christian Cooper, the birder in Central Park, is a perfect example. Here is a highly educated man, an African American, who asked a white woman to leash her dog. There was a sign, saying ‘keep your dog on a leash.’ How did she respond? She weaponized her white privilege and called the police, which could have resulted in deadly consequences for Mr. Cooper, and yet knowing that - she still called the police. Don't even suggest white privilege doesn't exist
