Indeed I do. I didn't mean Wallace and Gromit How has Scotland benefited from William's fight for freedom? Do Scotland have independence from England or do England still call the shots?
It's not England that calls the shots, it's a British parliament. The majoirty population is English, and so the majoirty of MPs are English. But Scottish MPs still intervene on English affairs. They have the right to vote on Bills which will only affect England. This is not true the other way around, since the Scots have a parliament and the English don't. So unequal balances of power work both ways....
Saw a report of a proposed private members bill to Charge the Scots a toll of £1.50 to cross the border but nothing should be charged the other way when people come north to Scotland. I have never thought of voting anything but Green in the past but I feel an SNP x coming on. Yes it is unfair. I think there is a lot to be said for Independance rather that partial devolution.
Just to let everyone from Scotland know, I voted for the Mc Donald Brothers tonight Okey a question... Name a very very unknown natural beauty wilderness.
If it was very very unknown then we couldn't name it could we. There are lots of stunning remote areas in Scotland that ar unspoilt.
Wallace and Bruce made a huge contribution to the way Scotland is now. It is said that if Scotland hadn't fought off Edward, we'd just be another English province with no national identity. As it is, after the Jacobean uprising much later and after the act of Union, lots of things that made Scots Scots were outlawed, including clan tartans. It wasn't until George III ( I think) came up for a Royal visit that the writer Walter Scott got him to wear Highland Dress and then tartan/checks became fashionable. It's a wierd thought though, take away a mans clothes or a mans and you take away his identity.
Is that so bad? I would say we need fewer nations, not more. Identity divides people as much as it unites them. And Scottish independence, I think, would be a disaster for everyone concerned....
I don't. I like the idea of small sustainable communities. I'm not a fan of globalization. In what way would it be a disaster? Have you been North of the Border?
