i love how people call it "talking rasta", the correct term is patois. many languages have a form of patois.

:) I'm a Jew and since Jews came from Africa way back when and Africans were black, well I consider myself just as black as white - but then, we all came from Africa or China, one of those ancient locations, so really,

it is true that once we were all one family. <------ (my point)

I don't own a Bob Marley t-shirt or anything in the "rasta" colours, tho' I happen to like the red/green/gold effect. I DO, however, own a huge Bob Marley beach towel, which hangs on my bedroom window at least until I can afford the fabric to sew curtains...does that count? Heck, the media and marketing folks will run wild with anything that turns a buck, but I still respect Bob Marley and find rastafarianism fascinating, damned if I'll allow people with a specific job to do ruin it for me.

And the young lady is quite correct about "patois." Reminds me of when people say, "Do you speak Jewish?" when they mean (I assume) Hebrew.

this girl had my dread her hair not too long to, and i had hemp that coincidentally was yellow green and red and she wanted me to put some in, and i said 'what do you think about the purple?' and she goes 'no let me use this one it's more rasta looking'

that girl is probably one of the most violent people i've met lol.

:) Can't help but speak some; I grew up hearing so much. But Yiddish is a dialect, whereas Hebrew is a language (or something like that...)

sisterags, i respect your views. but, just so you know, "rastafarianism" is a term looked down upon by rasta.

Ah, see, now I feel embarrassed and separate from you, my sister in the eyes of God- which is precisely why I dislike any religion, movement, or path that has rules and regulations. Any belief system that separates the children of God one from another feels unloving to me. Being a Nazi, being a Jew, being a Jehovah's Witness, being an "anything" - being so Rasta that you have to call another "wrong"...all results in the same ugly arrogance that can come to no good in the end.

Unity is productive and loving, whereas separation is destructive and hateful.

natural philosophy u need to relax and stop the brainwash :)
it is not the colours or the religion , its how u feel with it
if u dont like ''rastafarians'' or white ''rastafarians'' its ur problem
if someone else likes the lifestyle and thinks it is right for him/her u cant tell him not to
we have to accept one another and live in harmony
