that's kind of ridiculous, saying that Hindus Christians Muslims and Jewish all worship the same God. Not only ridiculous, but insulting too. By saying that you are negating the rich cultural and religious differences that you should be appreciating about those 4 religions. As a religious studies major you should know that. plus, just because you're about to get some bachelor's degree in religion doesn't give you the right to be pompous and arrogant about what you know and what you think others don't.
lol@ your ignorance. you think it is impossible for someone who opposes your viewpoint to be educated on the matter? its already too obvious that you are so skewed towards your own agenda that you are unwilling to consider opposition AND that you get your facts from biased sources. there's no need to get into this with you. maybe we could discuss this in person if we were face to face, but im not going to get heavy in an online forum dood. i can't take it that seriously. would you like a beer?:cheers2:
what's ridiculous is you claiming that my facts are ridiculous. i dont think you even read what i had to say. you're not presenting any facts for or against it. you're just voicing an opinion based on nothing. congratulations. there are CLEARLY distinctions between the religions. however, this does not take away from the roots being involved with YHWH. in most instances they do believe that they worship the same God. different religion does not necessarily mean different God. i'm interested in all four of those religions. i have the most respect i could possibly put forth to them. their differences are celebrated, and their likeness respectively. furthermore, i dont see where i was "pompous" and "arrogant." however, i do see where you're being defensive and retaliating over nothing.
"until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned: That until there are no longer first-class and second class citizens of any nation; That until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race; That until that day, the dream of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never attained; And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes that hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique and in South Africa in subhuman bondage have been toppled and destroyed; Until bigotry and prejudice and malicious and inhuman self-interest have been replaced by understanding and tolerance and good-will; Until all Africans stand and speak as free beings, equal in the eyes of all men, as they are in the eyes of Heaven; Until that day, the African continent will not know peace. We Africans will fight, if necessary, and we know that we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of good over evil..." -Haile Selassie I
i think i'm slightly above average in the field at the least. i've studied religion since 1st grade. [various religions] not a focal point as in Christian schools. i'm definitely not ignorant on the topic at all. it is not impossible for someone to oppose my viewpoint. i am open to any opposition as i already said. if you dont want to take it seriously, then there's nothing more to say d00d. bottoms up :cheers2:
haha sure man you know everything :cheers2: do you even have locks or are you just posting in this forum to convert us nonbelievers?
yea i'm workin on this. dont you worry. my junior year of school is over. i'm rolling a fat blunt. :sifone:
well actually, The Egyptians predate the Jews, The Mesopotamians predate them. The Chinese predate them... and it goes on and on. Can't believe your school didnt teach you that What facts? the bible is not "facts". My great great great great grand father could have wrote that for all we know. And if you base facts from books that have no supportive evidence in real life, by that theory there are trolls under bridges, lions that can fly, a running gingerbread man. The big bang is a more accurate belief than the bible. Why? Because with the hubble telescope one can view the universe expanding and building on from nothing. Visible proof that supports a theory. Fossil records support evolution. Proof. A book of god so high and mighty should not have so many mistakes about how the world actually works. Considering it's god word. Some things the bible states and most people with a grade 3 education would also know and be able to disprove. "He has fixed the earth firm, unmoveable" psalm 96:10. So the earth doesnt spin on an axis "I saw 4 angels standing on four corners of the earth" revelation 7:1. The corners!?!?? The earth must be flat "Again, the devil taketh him up to an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world" Matthew 4:8. A flat world sure would be beatuful. Too bad its round and we will never get to see it all at once. Just a little bit of all the wisdom from the bible
Haha xD My defensive arguments turn out like this: Urh blurh.. But like.. Even.. Uhhburlrhnf In my head it makes complete sense... But my mouth doesn't seem to understand the term "argument"
'The Bible' was written around 1000 years after the death of Christ, as far as I'm aware, and no scholars at the time wrote anything about him, you would have thought that someone performing miracles would have been famous enough for the people of the time to write about him. i haven't read the whole thread so apologies if I miss the point
Your education doesn't mean shit in this debate. I have a degree in music production/audio engineering. Does that mean my views on music are superior to yours? No it doesnt because like religion, there is no proof that one type of music or belief (in religion's case) is more accurate than the other. My sister has a phD in pyschology, and we if were to debate her about how brains work, guarenteed she could school us. Why? Because there is scientific proof as to how they work and it has been proven true. Factual evidence to support an arguement. Which she has been taught and educated on. Unluckily for you, your field can't back up what you're learning
Religious zealots are like weathermen, they can be wrong everyday and still keep their jobs. Personal faith is just that-personal. You can have 'facts' or 'faith', but you aren't going to convert anyone else to your viewpoint. Perhapswhat you believe is what's 'true'. We have absolutely no way of knowing the mysteries of this universe, all of it is a guess, 'educated' or not. If you believe you have it all figured out, you've completely missed the point. Revel in the questions, and forget your 'answers.' 'If you have to adveritise your religion, it is sorely lacking.' -Ben Franklin As a completely unaffiliated person (spiritual not religious) I have observed that no one has ever died in the name of Buddha, and whatever holiness the Jesus story may have had has been negated by the two thousand years of bloodshed in his name.
