You don't really know much about Halloween. You thought no further than the strange custom of having your children wear masks and go out begging for candy.

It was the start of the year in our old Celtic lands, and we'd be waiting in our houses of wattles and clay. The barriers would be down, you see, between the real and the unreal, and the dead might be looking in to sit by our fires of turf.

Halloween... the festival of Samhain! The last great one took place three thousand years ago, when the hills ran red with the blood of animals and children.
Sacrifices.
It was part of our world... our craft.
Witchcraft.
To us, it was a way of controlling our environment. It's not so different now... it's time again. In the end, we don't decide these things, you know; the planets do. They're in alignment, and it's time again. The world's going to change tonight, Doctor, I'm glad you'll be able to watch it. And... Happy Halloween.

We have some small birds caged at my work. I want to let them go.

Chances are they would die.

Still they in prison.

I remember my dad going hunting with somebody once and getting real excited about bringing home Bob Whites.

 

When you phrase them like that, most holidays are truly bizarre!

 

Best place to be for Halloween has to be Mexico?
Things they do is more than bizarre! I mean, digging up your gran and making her food.. that's too bizarre, right?

 

That's a beautiful celebration! I'd love to go sometime.

 

My daughter and her partner are pagan, they would love to go to Mexico.. I've warned them, when I go, don't go digging me up, or I will haunt them..lol
But it does look quite amazing...

 

The marigolds and the colorful makeup and costumes... not to mention the feasts.

I love the sugar masks and dolls, I took some dolls home for her when I was in Mexico last year, she was thrilled, they are in her shop window, and people are constantly asking to buy them.. but I don't think she will ever part with them. If photobucket hadn't of mucked up, I would show you them.
