Read Kurt's Bio and see it was NOT his fame that made him kill himself. Quit watching TV news

You know I was watching something on VH1 they were interviewing some musicians from the 60's one was David Crosby. The showed his fancy car and his mansion (back then) I don't care how much they spoke about anti establishment, they were ALL in it for the money!!! And they spent it pretty well.

After watchting that "Anarchy In the U.K." video, I realized why punks were so angry... Damn song in my head all day!

Cool video though. Almost had me. Buncha spikes and dancing like they were having seizures in the crowd.

But then Led Zeppelin came on and I went back to that. ;)

Shit where was I when this thread started?! I have a mohawk so that gives me authority in the matter :D (Dont take that seriously... Come on now.) Well when Blink 182 first came around they didn't make any claims of being punks. They were just 3 goofy kids who wanted to goof off and get naked. Then they started using the words punk rock show. In their songs. Still though the punk thing took a year or 2 too become a new trend. First this needs to be said
Kurt Cobain was NEVER a punk. Ok? Grunge was not a mix of punk and metal, but rather of speed metal and heroin, whilst stealling punk threads and adding plaid. It doesnt matter if you like a type of music, it doesnt change the music you make or who you are. Kurt was not a punk. Next, this whole pop punk thing is just a trend, as is these kids who think their being non conformist by claiming "Punk Sucks!" when they havent actually heard real punk. It'll pass. There is a lot of metal punk out there and maybe you should check it out. Punk's not dead was an awesome album by the Exploited. You may even like it. Not everything is about anti-corperations my friend. FEAR is another choice band. The Queers.... uh... Theres a lotta stuff out there man. What all have you heard and why dont you like it?

No Emotion? What fuckin shows have you been too? Most of punk is emotion and connecting directlly with the crowd. Seriouslly. Singers dropping their mikes and diving head first into a circle pit and tearing shit up before hopping back on stage. No emotion my ass

All thje people that have said they hate punk rock have terrible bands in their sigs.....so all punk is horrible sounding, but terrible metal isn't, punk sucks but Canned Heat is good?!

Punk has no emotion, but looking like a stereotypical hippie throwback in 2004 is true creativity?!

i think isanejester summed it up nicely. it's all about what you like and don't like, but don't go around trying to judge others music just because you don't like it. every genre has something behind it, a reason why it's there. every song has a meaning, whether it's punk, country, or reggae.
but insanejester, you messed up about why people start a band. not everyone plays an instrument to get big, rich, and famous. i know personally i just want to be in a band that'll make enough money - signed or not - to tour the world and let me make a living off doing what i love to do - playing music.

Escalades with 24s and mansions are over-rated. You have to admit they make a lot more than they need to. I say bring CD prices down, and no concert should be more than $20 tops.

    in regards to DARKLUNACY

diving into a crowd head first isnt called emotion

Direct interaction with a crowd (As opposed to smilling and standing on your 10 ft high stage) is emotion. Becoming involved directly with your fans is emotion. I just dont get your non-emotion argument. For all I care, you are some hippie asshole who wouldnt know non-cliche stereotypical hippie music if it was beat into them with a swollen dick. I am punk rock music. Its my soul. Its what moves me. Can't you say the same about something in your life? No? Then you might as well hang yourself in a bathroom and free up a little spot on earth.

I disagree with the idea that people have different tastes and shouldn't have to defend said taste. I think if you truly like something you should be able to stand up for it.

ITs really not a matter of taste. Just music as a whole. Punk lacks so much, and I guess that makes it what it is. Horrible distortion, trashy lyrics, drum tabs any forth grader could master, and basslines I could play with my elbows.

    I crap on punk.

I would say I crap on metal, but i like some of it, as I am a bit more open minded than the morons who really like metal.Just becauise you CAN play something doesn't mean you should...a message to all the moronic metal guitarists out there...
music is not a sport, so please don't try to cram as many notes into the smallest space possible, because if you do you will be forced to go back to the 1980's, where your style is.
