Bit of a late reply to your post but I've only just seen this so...

I'm never ever going to any sort of psychedelic party in Greece ever again and I would advise anyone else to not go partying in that backwards, fucked up country...

Went to Sola Luna 2001 on Samothraki which was easily in the top 3 parties I've ever been to, great lineup, location and party and it went down in trance history..

Then they held the Samothraki Dance Festival in 2003 which had an even sicker lineup and I went with my then girlfriend... Long story short, hundreds of people arrested, police at all the ports of the ferries going over there searching anyone who looked hippyish, undercover police nabbing people on the dancefloor, police with dogs going round the campsites pulling sleeping people out of their tents by their feet and going through their stuff, organisers doing a runner but the music still carrying on anarchy, heavy rain for a bit, people being busted for a crumb of charas and put straight in jail while they had to wait a week or two to be tried and all sorts of more horrible shit... We ended up hiding our stash up a tree in the woods but it was still sketchy as fuck, two of the guys we were camped with and had made good friends with over the time got arrested.

All the while, this was national news in Greece with TV and press there reporting about these fucked up drug addicts who had taken over a whole island and how the police should deal with it. Greece is a very conservative orthodox christian country and they don't fuck around when it comes to drugs, their police force is horrifficly violent and spiteful- treating people lower than animals...

Never again and I warn everyone on here really really really think twice before you go to a party in greece. It had such potential, beautiful spot, lineup, people, soundsystem and 2001 was great but it was a bit of a nightmare by the end of it. I'm sure others are still in prison now because of it.. They held another one in 2005 but I went nowhere near the thing...

wish i was there. truly breathtaking location.

 

Shit Rev, sounds proper nasty... I will certainly think twice about that one then. Shame cos the lineups always look fangasmical

Astral Projection are really growing on me. I don't know what the deal with Israel is but they sure put a lot out of good psytrance. I guess the Jews like their psychedelics.

 

astral is old school, they were great 10 years ago, saw themm in Montreal in 99....awesome!!!!
Saw them in Austria this summer and I must say I was really disappointed, their set was boring and they didnt play any old stuff.....

Ill always love their classics tho

 

The best psytrance is HARD psytrance. And it's not easy to find on cds / bittorrent.

 

Damn your lucky, I hope I get to see Astral one day, but they don't come too often to the USA.

 

Ooh, yummy yummy psytrance. Lucky here, in the south of England, there are usually more than one psytrance party (legal and illegal) every week, though I'm having a weekend off of it this weekend because next weekend's gonna be messy.

It's all about WildThings Records IMO.

 

what you cant find on torrent sites youll find on SOULSEEK ...its a p2p great for psytrance

 

not really.

there is mostly poor quality stuff on soulseek. not to mention the latest releases take a while to end up on there for psytrance. you can find a lot of old stuff but its mostly popular releases. i guess if you are just listening thats fine but if you are djing thats unlikely soulseek will help you find really unique bangin tracks.
