Very rarely. And when I do it's usually the local independent public station. They don't fall in line with the rest of em.
I also think you have to deliberately try to avoid Biebers music if you have never heard at least a part of one of his tunes. I mean, you can even hear it on the streets at times or if you are at a friends place who has a tv on or something.
I may have heard something in passing and didn't know what it was. But honestly, none if the friends I hang out with watch TV or listen to any stations that would play music like that. At least not when I'm around anyway.
i have never clicked that stupid song...and i never will....10 seconds on the news and that was enough same here...i would change the station if my public radio payed more than a clip for their news show i'm like that with all mass appeal media...i boycotted ''avatar'' for years...finally sat through it a few months ago...it sucked bag big time...i should never have invested my time in it
Yeah, I really do try to limit the amount of tv he watches and what he watches. It does get kinda annoying that sometimes he comes down from say, a nap n is pointing at the tv yelling "gabba!!" or just "tv!" and then throws a fit if I don't put it on...and I try not to give into what a two yr old wants just because he wants it... luckily when I distract him with something else (playing with his cars or play doh or coloring books or going outside) he gets over it and has more fun then he would have had with watching tv... However, don't you think it's easier said then done for a parent-esp a stay at home parent whos kid isnt in daycare or a babysitter (meaning those ppl dont see their kids nearly as much as im with my son so of COURSE it would be easier to have NO tv)... but yea, don't you think it's easier said than done to say no tv... then to actually not EVER put on tv? I mean, i don't think it makes me a bad parent (just an honest parent) to say that sometimes I gotta do stuff around the house or take a phone call or... have a migraine or something and need to occupy him for a lil. I'd like to say "okay yea he won't watch any tv" but first of all... id never hear the end of that. And 2 yr olds can be VERY persistant (read-annoying lol) - but anyways I think I'll just keep doing what I do and limit how much he watches and make sure he does plenty of other, creative, interactive and educational things... i mean, for ex- he is 2 yrs and 3 months old and he already can read a good bit of words, even when they have never been read to him first. and he counts to 30. =) (and btw, i wrote "im gonna not get defensive and just answer the question"... or something like that.. because at first i felt a bit defensive until i told myself you prolly didnt mean it in a judgemental/mean way but were really just asking-having a discussion about it... sometimes i think it's very easy for other ppl to judge other's ppls parenting skills..like how other ppl parent and i try not to do that because well, im not that parent. but anyways, i dont feel you were doing that. esp. bc you admitted that your kids watched too much tv and too early) =)
Oh and regarding psy... I showed Dan (hubby) and Case (son) the gangnam style video today (because I think it's FUNNY) and Dan was laughing and thought it was amusing...actually part of why we were laughing is because Cason started dancing exactly the same way that Psy was... really funny in a 2 yr old. =)
I couldn't name a single Justin Beiber song-and as far as I know I've never heard one. But then, anything from '89 onward is just background noise to me.....
I wouldn't wish anybody to see it more than once. Never Say Never (Justin Bieber) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC2fP2Tswu4"]New Karate Kid - Never Say Never (Justin Bieber) Lyrics - YouTube Go on, you know you want to

He's actually revealed himself to be quite the spoiled little prick in interviews... But I guess those are just the ones that get the most attention. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but generally from what I've seen, he's just cuttin loose kind of unprovoked.

Are you talking about psy or justin bieber? and deviate- i have no clue... bird... i'll have to check that out later. =) Oh and going back to some of the previous posts about it being impossible to not have seen or heard at least parts of it.. in the past year (until about 2 wks ago when I got cable tv-any tv- and internet back) I had, for that year, absolutely no tv and no internet. And as for radio, there is a station out of Philly that we get here called XPN, which is independent radio which pretty much just plays older stuff and world music and all kinds of indy music (whether it's rock or folk or blues) etc and that is all I listen to. So, that's how I avoided it until now. edit-nvm... i hadn't looked at most of page 2 for some reason so now i know the answer. and aqua and happypills... im glad im not the only one who is amused by it (and finds it fun)... i try not to be too serious about things and like just...sillyness =D
I think TV is terrible in excess, for kids I think it's important not to expose them when they're too young. Kids do learn a lot of great things from educational TV shows, like counting, letters, shapes, recycling, healthy food, the weather, animals, plants, etc. Sophia is almost 4 and we don't have cable, but we love watching movies and shows on Netflix. Our latest fix is Dexter's Lab, it doesn't teach anything other than great humor. I used to have cable and she started watching TV around the same age too. PBS was fine, but one of the reasons why I decided that we didn't really need to pay for cable anymore was because of how aggressive advertising targeted to kids is.
