yes, he's 3 years older than i. He's done just about every drug you can think of. I've known him since August-- which isnt really a long time, but in that amount of time we've spent almost every day together, and talked a lot about who i am, what i believe, where i've came from, etc etc. I feel like he knows me better than many people. funny, i was talking to a guy in between classes because we both have long breaks and there was really nothing to do. i get on the discussion of the universe, the end of the world, etc etc. and i just made the random statement "man, you must think i trip all the time", and he response was "uh, yeah, you're pretty crazy". SO, who knows. I think I'm going to try it. Probably sometime later on this year.
Indeed. That night I walked out of my dorm room to piss, then the next thing I remember is waking up on the floor outside the bathroom not knowing where I was or what the bright light above me was. Then I heard somebody talking down the hall and jumped up and ran to the bathroom (I sure as hell wasn't going to let anybody find me like that). I then shat my guts out, not literally of course, but close enough. As I was ejecting the horrible stuff from my body my limbs went cold and I remembered something my friend once said, something along the lines of "There is a period before you die, maybe five minutes, where you KNOW you are going to die." That's what happened to me, only I eventually calmed down after sitting on the toilet for around an hour. So yeah, go out there and take Acid and eat mushrooms and smoke cannabis if you have to. But for the love of god, don't trip on cough medicine. DXM is a dissociative by the way, putting it in the same class of drugs as PCP. Back on topic. . . I have to admit I'm a little worried to see so many people making it sound like acid will make you trip for 12 hours and nothing else. Taking acid won't kill you, or even seriously harm you physically, but it will affect the way your mind works for a long time after taking it. You won't feel normal for probably at least a week after taking it, and some minor occurences of trails and afterimages and even patterns and colors will stretch out. . . well, I don't know how long. I know its been six months since i took acid and I'm still experiencing these things. A friend of mine who took acid every day for a week (smart kid huh?) probably about a month and a half ago says he is still tripping - strong visuals and a vague sense of trippiness that won't go away. As he put it, "everything is squiggly." He said that an experienced friend of his says that this goes away, but it can take a few years. Also, acid can cause some moderate to severe gastrointestinal discomfort - for me it felt like hot iron swirling my intestines around and somebody yanking on my testicles. That makes it sound a little worse than it was, but still, it was definitely unpleasant. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that seratonin is released in your intestines (I'm a little spotty on this - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), and the fact that LSD and other hallucinogens work by messing with your seratonin. There was also the horrible pain in my forehead - you might argue this was psychological but I'm pretty certain it was the result of my nose/throat/mucous membranes being absolutely devoid of any moisture whatsoever. What I'm trying to say is you shouldn't think LSD affects your mind only and does nothing to your body. I hope you take these things into consideration and do some research of your own before trying acid. Or better yet, just try shrooms instead - they're probably better suited to somebody who hasn't tripped before. You'll probably be more likely to have a good trip, and if it does go bad it'll be a lot easier to steer it back in the right direction.
I think you should try 1 tab You should get a good sence of the effects on your mind at that point yet still pull off sober A 'bad' trip on one tab is like being a bit afraid, you wont freak out, you will know what is going on but If something does go wrong; it will probably be scary music and/or a friends face turning into a cat zombie for a few seconds
hmmm geo i've never heard of any physical discomfort with acid. maybe you just got a really weak stomach? my DXM story....basically i literally felt my soul trying to split i apart between good and evil. also i had horrible horrible guilt because i lied to my parents about what i was doing and where i was and all i could think about is what they would think that i died. and then i had this crazy out of body experience. but im sure you understand these things can't be put into words. As much as i would like to send DXM to hell, PCP is so much worse. i hate that shit...
McKenna once described psychedelics as extreme feminizing agents. They get you highly in touch with feminine side of being, they get you highly in touch with your feelings, they let you 'see' your feelings. So for men, taking a psychedelic is typically mind shattering cause men operate in a disconnect from feeling most of the time and it's like they just stumbled onto a whole new way of being. Whereas women typically the psychedelic will just "reaffirm everything they already knew", because its just making stronger all the feelings they were already highly aware of. Something to think about when taking advices from male friends about psychedelics. of course though, mckenna is a male and Im a male... so I dunno Just I know everyone is always like 'i dunno if you should try that psychedellic' or whatnot. But then you usually find out 'that psychedellic' was AWESOME and one of your best life experiences. And if you feel like your drawn towards it, you should try it.
eh i really gotta disagree with you rygoody. it isn't that men aren't highly in touch with their feelings, it's just that society raises men to not to openly express their feelings. i know i have feelings. i wouldn't say that women feel more than men do.
Actually women ARE more in touch with their emotions. When a fetus is growing it starts out androgenous, but at some point it begins to develop as specifically male or female. One of the things that happens in male fetuses is the release of a flood of testosterone to the brain which basically fries a lot of the connections between hemispheres of the brain in the (some part of the brain, I can't remember exactly. I should have paid more attention in psych). At least thats what I remember hearing from my AP physics teacher in high school. Though I couldn't say why exactly a physics teacher was talking about this. . . I can't remember the context. Anyway, I might have gotten some of the technical details wrong but I'm sure about the basic idea that women's brains are structured in a way that puts them in better touch with their emotions.
sorry. but that really sounds like a lot of bullshit. and it's a blanket statement if there ever was one. to say that women are more in touch with their emotions.
In touch with their emotions? LOL! How about 100% fueled by their emotions? Women make their decisions based on emotions and feelings, as opposed to logic or reason. Note: There are exceptions to every rule. Especially this one.
well, none of us can ever really know, can we? we've got no basis for comparison. haha. but if a physics teacher said it, i'd believe it just as much as i'd be skeptical of it. you never know. it doesn't sound too far fetched; there are wilder things happening in the universe.
i noticed you are a male. have you never made a decision based on your emotions? i'll find it hard to believe if you say no. every dude that i hang out with that i can think of has done it. I have too. many times.
Like Salmon4me said, there are definitely exceptions. And I don't dispute that society makes the difference more prevalant than it otherwise would be. Still, there is a biological basis for it. Look into it sometime. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/2146003.stm "They believe that the sexes use different networks in their brains to remember emotional events. This may explain why women are more likely to be emotional and to remember fraught occasions. Researchers from Stanford University in California, US, used scan technology to measure the brain activity of 12 men and 12 women who were shown a range of images. These varied from neutral images such as fire hydrants, to highly disturbing images of mutilated bodies designed to trigger an emotional response. The brain scans also revealed that exposure to emotive images stimulated more areas in the women's brains than they did in the men. In the women, nine areas of the brain known to play a role in emotion and memory showed higher activity, compared with just two areas for men. "
Younger guys are definitely more EMo, that's for sure. They also haven't lived with a woman for years on end and witnessed the scariness first hand. Moms don't count!
ya guys are getting pretty emo I actually saw a study that said that the collective level of testosterone has been dropping in young males more and more since like the mid 80's we're all feminizing. Although I still can't compare to the level of running your mind off just pure emotion and feeling as I've seen some girls do. Really some girls I've met, I don't even get how there still managing to utilize the English language.
