do you really think the tree would give a shit? i'm aware the risk is consentual, but it still dose'nt change the fact that the client is not the vunerable one.

The tree gives as much of a shit as the real world does to what you wish to be true without a glimmer of knowledge on the topic.

I don't think that consensual risk would justify killing 100 million people, for example.

While rape is illegal, transmitting HIV to a rapist makes the act of rape potentially lethal. In other words, as much as you might like to think that transmitting an std is just between you and your consensual sex partners, the reality is more complicated

And I'm not proposing any actionable laws here. I am however pointing out that transmission of an std during consensual sex is not purely a matter between those sexual partners alone. Particularly if one considers that in principle, a disease could mutate to a non-sexually transmitted form.

Then why not say human trafficked persons have it worse off than johns? Oh, that's right. That wouldn't allow you to play white knight!

Lay off with the personal attack bullshit. The difference between you and me is that I'm not being passive-aggressive. Passive aggressive condescension tells me everything I need to know about what you think of me in relation to yourself.

Don't you worry about my emotions. Stick to your own.

Dude, this ain't Star Wars ok. I'm not responding to lunacies that exist only in your head to fit your argument.

It's a little bit like evangelicals who wish to argue with an atheist basing the discussion on the premise that the Bible is the word of God.

Pray tell me how many prostitutes, johns, you know. Where you got your erudite information from, etc.

My resume on the topic is well-know on this board. I am a john myself and have been for over 10 years. I have been a victim of physical violence, embezzlement, and false advertising from prostitutes and pimps. I have had full-blown non-pay relationships with 4 prostitutes, another one being a personal friend I go to the movies with to this day.

All this across international borders. Now, please tell me how much more qualified you are than me to speak on the topic.

Memorized lines from pop feminism does not make you an expert. In the famous words of Tyler Durden, "Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken."

    ============

Edit: All this on top of painstaking research on the topic of prostitution that I have carried out even before I became a john.

ok, "human trafficked person have it worse off than johns". I would also say that non-human trafficked prostitutes have it worse than johns overall, in my opinion. There are, however, lots clients who get taken advantage of by prostitutes. As I said before, it's usually whoever is vulnerable who gets victimized

I think you are just getting too emotional about this

The possibility of a drug resistant strain of HIV killing 100 million people is a real possibility, not an obscure hypothetical

Clearly you've never hired a hooker. You may be right when it comes to Hollywood street whores, but that's not the case in reality.

if you were victimized, that is wrong. those who did that to you should be held accountable

this is one of the reason why I think we should have safe, regulated, legal prostitution

In your tiny teeny little mind it obviously is. lol.
Reality is actually pointing quite the opposite way. I assume you haven't kept up with the news since yesterday.

Edit: As it turns out HIV is relatively hard to transmit. It is already drug resistant, and only 30 million out of almost 8 billion people on the planet have it.

Exactly. And the legal wherewithal is already there for the individuals in question to be held accountable. No need to make a professional victim of myself or hire the bleeding hearts of self-important liberals with a savior-complex.

Also, it's got NOTHING to do with prostitution. I know 'cause when prostitution happens I come out of it happy. What happened was mugging, and embezzlement. And it could have, and has happened to me, in other sectors of the economy and different professional brackets.

that depends on who and where you are. yes, it's easier than winning the lottery. it's still not something you can just go and do when you feel like it, like getting a job or hiring a prostitute where it's legal.

and, like someone mentioned earlier, getting laid is not the same as getting free consensual sex. that actually may be comparable to winning the lottery.

I don’t know how you got the idea that the majority of STDs are transmitted via prostitution.

Both the client and the pro can be victimized. You seem to think that just because a chick is prostituting herself, that she must be "weak" and "vulnerable" due to the simple fact that no normal, non-damaged girl would ever choose prostitution (in your mind). And that couldn’t be farther from the truth. So stop trying to make every prostitute out to be a victim when they’re not.

Again, you’re playing the same card as Roamy… that all these girls in the biz must be weak and vulnerable for the simple fact that they’re engaging in something that a normal, strong and powerful girl would never do. Your perception of reality couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Legalizing prostitution will probably help reduce the demand in the black market for human trafficking sex workers.

some people might say "getting a job is still not something you can just go and do when you feel like it, like getting laid"

I don't know how got the idea I was making that claim

I think that you may have misread my quote. This is what you quoted from me:

there's nothing in there about all hookers being victims, or prostitution always being bad

In the case of human trafficking where girls and women are kidnapped or sold into slavery, often raped into submission, it's fair to say that they are being victimized. If a pimp has threatened/beaten/manipulated a girl into prostitution, it's fair to say that she is being victimized. If a girl is an addict and hates turning tricks, but does it to feed her habit, I think it's also fair to say that she is being victimized.

There's also plenty of hookers who like to fuck and who like money. Or at least hookers that don't mind fucking so much and like money.

you may be right. trafficking is often still a problem in countries where prostitution is legal though
