I'm missing the cowardice connection. I think anyone who would value a simple symbol as much as to take away rights surrounding its disposal are missing the point. If I draw a flag on an index card and burn it, would you still be offended? A newspaper? One of those little flag toothpicks? Should you not be allowed to put any design resembling the flag on toilet paper? An amendment would be not only over-the-top, but shortsighted and just plain stupid.

As long as you dufouses focus on this lame topic the more something like the new formation of the North American Union will become a fact before you even know it was considered, or signed. We may be saluting a Mexican flag in the future, while you are debating whether or not someone can burn a postcard with the an image of the american flag on it.

Hey, considering how many people here salute the US flag, what makes you think they will treat the Mexican flag any differently?

I am not willing to salute any flag that can summarily change the governing body I have to respond to.

This isn't about burning the flag, but about freedom of speech.

I would never personally burn the flag (while disappointed with the government, I still deeply respect the country), it's important that others be free to protest however they want. That way when I want to protest something, I won't have to worry about the government arresting me for it (I mean peaceful protests).

It's like the pornography issue. Some people don't like porn, but if you censor one thing that offends you, you have to be able to censor everything else. That is the real issue here.

Diversity is the spice of this country. People who have differing points of views make things that much more interesting. I might not agree with FedUpAmerican or Gardener all the time, but I would never want to see them leave, as they bring up points I never would have considered originally.

    Just some food for thought.

It's an election year. This comes up everytime there's an election. They want to say I voted for it sorry it didn't pass.

This is some backwards thinking. The way I look at it is if you are forced to respect the flag then what does it mean to those of us who do so voluntarily. I am all for freedom of speech. Burn away if thats what you want to do. I will be home proudy flying my flag and respecting because I want to not because someone else tells I have to.
