All this proves is that God couldn't have created the world in the sequence a literal intepretation of Genesis describes. Not all Christians are bible thumping literalists. Therefore, the "proof" doesn't hold.
Okay... well, the idea that maybe someday you'll shut up and stop being such an ignorant boor, to me, causes tremendous inner peace and joy to such an extent that it must be deemed 'heavenly'. Also, that adjective is derived from the noun 'heaven'. Therefore heaven exists!!!! It is that place where you have actually shut up forever, and don't make any more stupid comments or say 'ROFL' when things aren't even funny. As for God, gee... I really think the OP has done it. Who would have thought it would only take two paragraphs to disprove the existence of God when it's been such a big question for a few hundred years?? You should go on the news with your theory because everyone really needs to know about it!
Well Fedupamerican I don't want to embarrass you but logically you can't prove that god doesn't exist until you search every nook and cranny of the universe...logically that is...that goes for believers as well..that is where faith comes in to play. I mean if you don't believe in god why do you care so much...sounds like your more bitter about something than that you just don't believe in God, I mean if you truly don't care I don't think you would rant so much.
What is all this about "proof"? Proof is great in courtrooms and science labs, but it's really hard to have "proof" for all of the things we need to rely on in life--jobs, significant others, etc. It's good to have some evidence to go on, but much of life is taking a chance.
Right on Wayfaring Stranger. In the end, does it really matter whether or not a person believes in a christian god and heaven? If it makes them happy and gives them something to live for, then more power to them. It only becomes a problem when you force your god onto others. Peace and love
Thats what I was saying....that faith is important if you want to believe in something. I was saying you can't prove it wrong or right.
That is very true. In the end, nothing about the divine nature of this universe can be proved scientifically, which is why science doesn't touch philosophy of religions. So let bygones be bygones and don't try to prove or disprove something that can't be empirically categorized, as is the nature of religion. Peace and love
Hahaha well you made my point sound much better than the way I said it. Though I must say I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to tell someone about your beliefs as long as you don't take it personally. You can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to drink....I guess some people think you can haha.
The only problem I have with some people is that they state an argument and just say your wrong without even listening to what you are saying...I mean if your going to start something be prepared to have the debate go both ways...you just can't block all new information; I mean we're supposed to be open right? haha
I agree, if you define faith as a willingness to believe something. Sometimes people invoke "faith" as a higher faculty that gives them knowledge superior to reason and science and plugs them into Absolute Truth. I think of faith as part intuition, part choice or willingness to take a chance or bet your life, but not superior to evidence, logic, and science in areas where those are available. Faith is often all we have to go on--e.g., faith in science..
Smokindude, give it up. There is no definitive way to prove god exists. Just let it go. You'll never convince anyone who is atheist with your argument presented above. Just accept that you believe and there is no way to "prove" that god exists using emperical evidence. Peace and love
Well although I agree scientifically that you can't prove that god exists I do believe that there is evidence all around us that does...thats just my opinion.
Faith is a belief without evidence. As such, faith is the definition of stupidity and ignorance. There is nothing respecatble about faith and it should be shunned. It is inferior to evidene, logic, and science. Faith should not be a part of your intuition.
Well in my opinion...life itself and the universe. Before you attack me, which I assume you will, What do you believe in??? Evolution? are you an Atheist? If that is your answer whats your hope in death? I'm not saying that I'm anything the only thing I was taught was christianity but right now I'm searching for what I will believe in rather than a religion be forced on me. More importantly what do you believe in you never really say you just attack others for their beliefs. Lets not make this personal I'm just curious..and if you just want to fight I'm not going to respond.
The pointI was trying to make is that we can't operate in life without faith. I can't; you can't. Your post is based on faith--that your definition is right, that there are people out here reading what you post, that "evidence" "logic" and "science" aren't faulty, etc. Respectable or not, faith is essential and, by the way, doesn't have to be blind faith. Faith=intuition+risk taking.
No need too, because you obviously have issues, and will not listen to what anyone has to say. There is no "proof" of God/heaven, but there is no proof of evolution, but I'm willing to bet you believe in it. There is two ways of proving it to you. You accept Jesus into your heart, turn for your sinful ways and ask God to forgive you. You will be filled with the holy spirit, you will FEEL it.... Or, just wait until you die. Hell is the worst place possible, and if you don't turn to Christ, you'll find out the hard way. You wanted proof, you'll get it.
Before I finished reading the whole sentence I actually thought there was going to be some sort of good contradiction to Gods existence being made, but quite frankly I don't see any.
