I think ultimately, the argument to make here is one of political correctness. And Donald Trump has made a federal case - a bloody impeachment inquiry for crying out loud! - of not being politically correct. He's taken the non-pc doctrine to the extreme. I think that's where we see a lot of the racism of today thrive. It's online; modernized and weaponized for easy utilization by the masses.

All one need do to crack the whip is utter that racially themed slight, yes that joke, and the tale lives on.

All be no part of it and seek to identify it, negate it, and ultimately eliminate it.

Once these things are no longer part of the American vernacular they cease to be part of our subconscious. I would hypothesize that people would even forget to be racist. It's so simple.

I'm glad you're making friends, but really? I feel like either you didn't read the thread, or you really don't want to take the threat of racism seriously. Can we please try and not be racist? smh

You know I just realized your joke was meaner to the Caucasian woman. I still think it was weird.

What's this about your mayor? That's a great cause, @Orison! I'd be up in arms! For goodness sakes, that's a great thing. Good for you. I'm sorry if it seems like I came out against you. Clearly a misunderstanding. :)

    My reply:
You can have that chunk of ice and the rocks under it, too.

As for this word "indigenous", I must point out that the so-called indigenous native americans aren't even from here. It's known and proven that some came over the Bering Straits during the short ice age after the flood, while still others arrived thousands of years ago in Pheonecian ships during the same general timeframe of King Solomon of Israel. In fact, almost everyone now living anywhere on earth had an ancestrial heritage that came from a rather large box or boat that came to rest in the mountains of Ararat after the flood, just prior to the aforementioned ace age. Nobody is really indigenous to anywhere, and we all come from one bloodline, whether we like it or not.

Of course, some will say that's just my own opinion, and I'm as entitled to it as you are to ignore it. It works both ways, and I'm content with that. Y'all have a nice day now, ya' heah?

    My reply:
Now why would I ever want to change your mind? It's so entertaining! But then, I find the accusation "racist!" to be rather a matter of individual opinion, and they are entitled to keep their heads inserted firmly in their (normally) ample posteriors. You are as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. Seems fair to me, as long as neither of us resort to violence in a vain attempt to educate, punish, or change each other's minds. All of this re-enforces the truth that debate is ultimately pointless and only engenders strife.

    My reply:
Had to. Sometimes ya' just gotta' let the badger out. I find it hard to take racist crap very seriously, having grown up and putting up with far worse than most of these perpetually-offended pansies are whining about most of my life. My own dad seems to be one of the most bigoted racists I know, and I won't go into detail regarding that. He's still dad, but its mighty embarrassing and sometimes downright humiliating to be in his presence and hear this stuff come out of his mouth. Neither he, nor anyone else, is going to define me. I can decide who and what I am and what I aspire to by myself. I hope you do the same.

By the way, as a child I didn't know what racism or bigotry was until some ignorant adult modeled it for me. I find it just as disturbing as the perpetually-offended. Good night, everyone. When all else fails, hold your hands out away from your sides with your thumb and index fingers touching and say: "OOOOOHHMMMMM......OOOOHHHMMMM......."

Is the word the N word? If so guys like Chappel have a special pass. That is another topic that upsets white people.

The other comedians are generally known to be allies of race relations. The reaosn people laugh is we laugh at people like this commentator or other posters here. We laugh since the joke is on them. Through embracing their stereotypes they have no power. Maybe why black people wanted to "take back" the n word and make it theirs. I don't know I'm not black but that's how I see their use of that word.

I guess people like you feel people are too sensitive and some sort of shift has happened. Not really, comedians still make these kind of jokes. The public judges if they are serious or not. So much of right wing "humor" is the idea that you just have a free speech right to offend.

If that is your view of comedy you don't get comedy. All the guys you listed would not have made the comment this person did. Because of this I found out he had a podcast and his last one is an hour of him bitching about PC culture. To me he was the guy who called the fake fights when I thought it was real. Now I see him as an old man who has some very wrong views. Like you he does not get why he's not Richard Pryor or George Carlin. All you see is the word that makes mom turn the TV off. You don't see the intelligence of cultural commentary.

I think you are probably referring to Blazing Saddles with Mel Brook's' racial stuff. Again it's not the same kind of joke and that's why a white guy could write such a film. And if I'm not mistaken that film also upset many people in it's day.

  14. I think people need to respect that fact of yours.
    Your heritage is awesome.
Hope nobody racially abuses you though.

  16. Not that anyone would notice, the movie was a hit and any whiners were drowned out by the people in the sold-out theaters laughing their asses off.

  17. I'm confused. What did he say or do that was racist? I haven't found any evidence of him being racist.

  18. The only thing that is funny in Blazing Saddles is the baked beans scene. The rest of it is nothing but race based comments all against Mexicans.
