Now that, I KNOW is a pre-raphealite.

Nisha, the pre-raphaelites were a post-impressionism...(around...i think...) that decided that the course of painting was going along great and dandy until Rapheal came along and screwed everything up, so they went back and said they would start over from right before he came into the picture, and then made pretty pictures like this Ophelia. In case you didn't know. I think it's kind of silly of them anyway, since their paintings seem awfully similar to what Rapheal was thinking - just as how would everyone be so calm and angelic like in his crucifixions, how would she be so peaceful about drowning thanks to her own dresses? Atleast at that point. Anyway, the painting you posted just looked similar in style to that one so I thought it might be one fo them.

And Sitareric, is that a cat in a salior suit??

 

It reminds me a lot of John William Waterhouse's paintings...But it just gives me a feeling, you know. Strange Feeling.

oh, those pictures of the Waterhouse and Millais paintings are beautiful. I love the pre raphelite movement, the paintings are just so moving. there was an exhibition here of some from the Tate gallery - they blew me away.

Nisha - if you like the Lady of Shallot, have you seen Waterhouse's Ophelia? It is just as beautiful as Millais' . Miranda and the Tempest is stunning as well - Waterhouse is just amazing.
