You are supposed to look where you are signing, to make sure that you have not just signed on the wrong line and married the wrong bride.
That brought back some memories of me at 9, taking a look at our leaking slate roof. 4 years later, I completely replaced it, preserving the battens with Cuprinol, fixing them with brass screws and making my own lead soakers and flashings. The lead valley took a while to work out, as did replacing the rusty cast iron rainwater system with cast aluminium. I wonder how many people having a good laugh watching that idiot schoolboy on the roof would have thought in their wildest dreams that it would still be in perfect condition after 59 years.
