usually the French are known for that . I think there are a few 'official' road signs with words in the specific language on it. Signs for police checks and customs checks comes to mind. I think I saw them with the term 'Stopp' on it, even if 'Stop' is written on the stop sign.

Lots of people in Europe speak English, or at least a little English. So many languages in Europe, it just became the default unifying language I guess.

American movies and tv are so widely seen, I bet lots of folk are familiar with stop signs that way.

 

There is a certain irony that this crude, dull-witted moron can only summon the most juvenile, lightweight invectives to hurl at opponents and they actually describe his own shortcomings.

 

My hotel room had this most fascinating door. I've never seen one like it before.

the wonders of the old world . I guess every single window and door over here works like that. I gets really funny if you have the lever somewhere in the middle position and the door falls on you. That sometimes happens if you switch from one position to the other without closing the door or the window properly. I've never seen a window that slides up and down in real life .
