He lost the eye, had his face reconstructed and went back into the ring half a year later.

Right, please bear with me-I'm trying to get this right. [there's a 1st time for everything]

Now,I was told about a pooch needing a loving home. She's been locked in a flat [an apartment, for you colonials] for 5 months. She belonged to a lesbian couple-one died, the other went into care after a breakdown. The pooch was fed a can of wet dogfood a/m & again p/m-but NOT let out. Eventually after 5 months, the stink brought complaints to the police, who broke in-and found a nearly dead dog. She was taken to an EXCELLENT vet,a lady who REALLY did her best, pulled no punches, spared no expense...and 'Butters' [YUK!] lived. Then they rang me-partly because lots of vets know me as I take in all sorts of animals for various reasons-and partly because I live in a small island in an estuary....so she would be safe. Ok...so-I drove 3.5 hours to meet the couple bringing her down country, plus meet the pooch. Oh,BLOODY Hell-the poor dog could hardly breathe, let alone walk! Scars, bald patches and HUGE rolls of fat-that's all I could see.
So,having watered her, said hello,walk...ok...waddled her a short way so she could pee,I lifted her into the car. STONE THE CROWS! I've lifted full sacks of coal weighed less than her! However-once she was in,I was in,and we were ready for the off,I looked at her and said "Ok,Chubby;no more fear. You're home, now. We have to drive a way-but you just relax and I'll do the driving. "You do NOT have to worry, ever again. You're home".
THIS,is the look she gave me......[IMG]

Now-a couple of days here, she's learning NO kicks,NO whacks, are coming her way.
The food isn't enough....but I'm NOT giving in....so she 'baggsied' her place in the bedroom for snoring.....[IMG]

Now...gradually,Chubby is losing weight [VERY gradually] starting to understand NOBODY's going to hurt her;so she's relaxed...[IMG]

Now-living,as I said,on an island means we have a seawall-now,I leap blithely up it....well...ok,grind my way up in low gear-but without getting breathless OR having to stop....whereas THIS is Butter's 1st attempt to walk 8 feet up a gentle slope
    ....View My Video

Yep. I've heard steam trains make less noise under load.
    BUT...it's all coming together.
Finally, she feels secure enough not to snap whenever a hand goes near her.
And,given 2 months, she'll be as active as all the others.
At least she's learning to trust,now....View My Video

Ah,well. It all takes time;this morning I had to re-shoe two of the horses.
A few years ago I knew ZILCH about horse-shoes;now I trim the hooves, shape, shoe, etc.
Not things I ever expected to need to know how.....just that farriers cost a fkn FORTUNE.

My advise? Do NOT own an island!

I wonder if Erin ever saw an owl before or if it is just instinct because of the position of the owl in that picture.

    Puggy
You are so good with animals. Loved the movie clips. That is one lucky dog. :2thumbsup:
