I dunno if the owner should or shouldn't if they have forced their dog to be a killer then yeah they should, if they have trained their dog to kill then yes they should. Not on trial for murder but for something else. You said the fact remains that an innocent got bit - how many thing in this life are innocent that we destroy/kill. Im not defending what the dog has done - that wrong.

A question for you if you had a group of kids who had a dog and where pulling its ear quite hard and poking it in the eye etc. And the dog nipped one of them and give it a warning but they carried on doing it - then the dog bit on one who was doing it - should the animal be put to sleep? Should it be killed because again another animal isnt doing the 'right' thing by us?

perhaps. it depends on if it escalates in it's aggression. preferably, though, it would be placed in a situation that doesn't involve children at all.

If you think of the way a dogs mind works it might make you change your mind a bit - by us they are doing wrong by them they arent!!!!

We want everything to be the way we want it!!! im not saying what that dog did is right at all but alot of the times it is the owners fault or the person who trained them!!

sure, but that doesn't negate the danger such a mistreated animal poses to innocent people. i know a lotta people don't, but i, in general, place more value on human life than i do on that of a dog. i'd rather a dog be peacefully put down than risk horrible mutilation to an unsuspecting passerby.

yea... its sad to hear what happened to them kids and the parents... but i have no respect for anyone here that posted "i hate pits" or anything along them lines... you hate pits just because you've seen/heard of bad ones? that would be like reading an article about say a black man beating a little kid and then saying "i hate black people"... its totally ignorant... pitbulls are special dogs that need special care.. they're not a dog for everyone.. they need alot of attention.. otherwise they will slowly get distempered.. and become psycho dogs... i've met my fair share of great pitbulls and see no difference between them and any other dog... every dog has special needs just like a human.. and if these needs arent met... they become angry... just like a normal person... as for the arguement over the running over the dog... i dont really know what to think of that.. i probably would've stopped and tried to help... but not kill the dogs without knowing if that little girl was the cause of the attack... ya ya ya.. kids dont know any better... dont gimme that shit.. MOST(see i didnt say all) dogs will not attack unless provoked... theres my 2 cents

no way mystical shroom.... have you read the entire thread.? which cross are you referring to?... if you had bothered to read the thread you'll see i in no way value a dogs life over a human life.... but at the moment Happyhippyflower is like a red rag to a bull to me... anyone that can hang an animal upsidedown from a tree and brick it to death without any remorse isnt worthy of my attention....its sick and i'm disgusted by it....

but you?...i'm suprised...i thought you took time to read before you commented?... or maybe you agree with Happyhippyflower in that all dogs should be bricked to death?...i'm confused.... i didnt take you as that sort of person...i must have misjudged you....no sane human would choose an animals life over a person... but then...no sane human would condone the cruelty that Happyhippyflower inflicted on a defensless animal....i note with horror where you stand on this...

but if you had asked ...do i value a dogs life more than Happyhippyflower..the answer would have to be YES.... scum is too good a word for anyone who can happily brick an animal to death

I am a proud owner of a Staffordshire bull terrier! He is a GREAT family dog - he is loyal, intelligent, and has a very sweet temperment. It is so sad that when these dogs do bite it's blown all out of proportion. And I do agree it's the ones of bad owners ~ owners who want the bad ass reputation ~ owners who want to make a buck through dog fights. When a smaller breed attacks we don't hear about it beause a smaller dog isn't going to do any damage. "Pit'' Bulls are very powerful dogs and unfortunately CAN do a lot of damage when not properly trained.Same with Rotts, huskies, german sheperds.Statistics show that huskies are actually more likley to kill someone than a pit. They have more raw instinct. I was always afraid of pit bulls before I actually got to know one ~ most people feel the same way.

i agree... and its good to hear you say the 'proud owner'..... Staffs have a bad rep too but they can be cuties.... i've known some real softies... a dog is what you make him....well...theres always exceptions.... my mother had a Pekinese (sp lol) and as tiny as it was it was a nasty piece of work.... aggression isnt breed specific.... its people who by bad breeding or training make their individuals that way....

really, it's the bad breeding that freaks me out. if you're going to have a pit breed, pick a responsible breeder. otherwise you're a dumbass for having such a physically powerful animal that may very well be poorly bred and you won't know until it snaps.

yes but even then its hard to know if the breeder really is a responsible breeder...

I knew a breeder of Old English Sheepdogs who to all that mattered including the Kennel Club looked like the model breeder... She dutifully had the Sires and Dams Hip scored etc....and registered her one a year litter from each bitch... 6 months later the bitch would produce another litter she couldnt register or sell for the full amount....so they went to pet shops etc.... you just can never tell..... it isnt always as it seems... even with KC registered breeders...
