I dont care. no one has the right to run over a pet, and not even have the common courtesy to even apologize to the owners. period.

whatever, mad. let's see you being all "have some decency" and "man up" when you see a little girl bloodied by some asshole's rotten fucking animals. i've had pets run over, too, and it made me sad. but they weren't eating some poor girls leg off. fuck that shit. my dog turned evil, too, and we had to beat her with a bat. had anyone else done it, i wouldn't have been upset, either.. that's how it works.

i totally agree with you, kc. there is a huge difference between some asshole just running over a dog, or a cat... or a freakin possum at that... just for some twisted idea of "fun".

but if i saw a pit bull violently attacking a child and i was in a car... i cant say i wouldnt run over the dog either. *shrugs*

there's just some things in this life that you do. saving a little girl from a brutal ravaging is one of them.

but something here doesnt add up.... pitt bulls dont let go for anything....and if the dogs were biting this girl how did he get a hit at the dogs with his truck?.... the dogs had to have been far enough away from the girl or the girl on the bike would have got hit too.....???

i could be wrong but without being there and going by your account the dogs couldnt have been attacking at the time so the sensible thing would have been to get the girl into the safety of the truck and not go on an angry rampage for the dogs....kinder to let snipers do it humanely.... at least they do it out of necessity...not pleasure or anger.

i still say its the owners who cant handle the breed.... it takes a very experienced dog handler to cope with a dangerous breed....if you cant train your dog to 'down' on command then you shouldnt have a dangerous breed...all you should be allowed to own is a toy poodle.... thats the way it should be...

he was driving his little toyota, and the mangle-legged girl was racing to her bike. poor kid. she was only 6 or 7. the fucking monsters deserved it. i feel no repentance whatsoever. the owner of those two beasts got off easy for not taking better care to restrain them.
i think the statement "on her bike" is where the confusion came in. she was out on her bike, got attacked, trying to get back to her bike, dave hit the dogs, carnage ceased.

no, i dont have them anymore....my brother took them when he moved out because we were moving into another condo at the same time & we cant keep pets here. i miss dozer, he was the best dog i ever had. before i got him i hated dogs, too. especially big, slobbery ones. i have always been more of a cat person. i realize that some pitts are dangerous but i think its incredibly wrong to say that they all deserve to be put down.

i would love to see happyhippyflower hung upside down from a tree and attacked. poetic justice :)

    full agreement with you madcrappie....

In the UK people used to need a licence to keep dogs...its a shame it was abolished because i'd go one step further.... all people should be vetted to see if they have the right environment for the dog they want... and it should be compulsory to take your dog for basic training AND dog care....yearly vetinary checks should also be compulsory....

Its far too easy to buy a dog...any idiot can do it.... but the idiots end up with out of control dogs that are almost always neglected in some way...
dogs need love and attention...feeding... excersing...grooming...health checks...dental checks.... a sick dog is going to be unpredictable...and it cant tell you if its not feeling well or has toothache....

If anyone can have a dog put down because its 'turned'... without trying to identify the cause or take responsibility then they should not have the right to ever own another animal....

and as for the more obvious acts of animal cruelty.... imprisonment is far too good a punishment for animal abusers.... the world wouldnt miss the pathetic bastards... i'd happily shoot the fukers...now thats a job i'd do for the love of it...

i really do think people need a license for the more aggressive dog breeds. but to be honest, even the small ones can take out an eye. but it seems to me that the mass inbreeding among pits and the people prone to purchasing them is what's to blame for their violence rates. i used to love them, until we had to beat one of our own. it was horrible. it's just that they're so fucking strong and so naturally agressive.

i agree with you here kc.... licensing and some control over aftercare.... having any dog is a huge commitment.... more strict laws would discourage the bad owners and hopefully any further attacks on humans....

I also agree that there should be tougher laws to discourage unscrupulous dog breeders... here in the uk a breeder can only register 1 litter a year... but that doesnt stop some from breeding a dog twice a year and selling them without papers... once caught they should be banned from breeding....

Sensible breeders can breed out a bad trait by mating a dog with a good temperement from further back in the line of pedigree every couple of generations...

oh...and i dont think anyone should be allowed to breed their family pet if its a dangerous breed...that should be left to the experts

my grandmother had a pit named mindy. that dog was CRAZY, but not in a bad way. mindy was her name. loved that dog. never caused a bit of harm to anyone except rats and cats. it was her damned terrier that would take your nose off. but grandma was an old hand at dogs, my mother, too. i wouldn't ever presume to take on such a dog without training. to be perfectly honest, i still have a bit of fear left over from having my 4 year old arm down a rott's throat up to my elbow. dogs intimidate me, and i think that's apretty smart view to have. even a lab can turn on you. you never know what these puppy mills are turning out.

I will be sure next time I see you or anyone you know getting attacked by a dog to drive by with a smile and a kind wave and give ya two small honks with a thumbs up...

Sorry, but if I saw a dog attacking someone, my foot would be up the dogs ass...and thats just being polite..

    i agree.

my ex boyfriend got a baby red-nosed pitt. that thing was evil. my ex and his dog had similar aggresive tendencies. month after he moved i heard stories of the dog killing neighborhood pets. he raised that dog to be mean to everyone except him, and thats a pretty dangerous way to raise a dog. his mom has the dog now because hes in jail. he should have never been allowed to even have that thing. i feel bad for his mom and the dog.

happyhippyflower - You are fucking sick, and should be killed.

Sun - next time your dog gets attacked, start kicking the attacker as hard as you can in the ribs or balls.

Mr. Crappie - Are you fucking serious? I personally commend Dave for running those pieces of shit over, and would have done the same.

That being said, I am a huge dog lover. I have also known tons of awesome pits.

it wasn't like he enjoyed running the things over. it wasn't like "HAHA FUCKERS I GOT YOU GOOD!" it was pretty traumatic. he still drives me by there sometimes. it was an awful scene by all accounts.

Well it should be unless the person is sociopathic. But to say he shouldnt have helped that little girl in order to spare the lives of some savage dogs, is fucking stupid.

    ooh..she was in control lol.....

I've just got a Great Dane cross from a rescue centre..she was a stray with her sister and about a year old.... her sister had a temperement i knew i'd struggle with and even though she was the prettier dog she wasnt the one for me....she needed skilled handling.... Kobi on the other hand is a sweetheart and easy to train.. but she is huge and powerful and so she really does need to know where she is in the 'pack'.... i wouldnt want a daily battle for top dog with an animal heavier than me...

All these stories of attacking dogs is tragic....and often so avoidable.... but for all the while there are not enough restrictions to protect dogs there will always be cases of dog attacks...
