poor PBS

    He was pretty good. Ross died a while ago. PBS did a tribute to him. His wife had died about a year or so before his death.

    Nye was funded by NSF (National Science Foundation) during the time he was doing that show on PBS. From what he said, he used to design tail fins on jumbo jets before he became Bill Nye the Science Guy. He also tried to get a science show on Saturday morning for the kids, but the regular networks nearly threw him out of the office when he proposed it to them.

    Nye made a very good effort to try to take away the negative stigma that science often has in the U.S.

    Yeah well, PBS has it tough. I mean, there was an "Arthur" episode that had a lesbian couple holding hands in it. The people who sponsor the show (those "viewers like you") wouldn't allow it to be broadcast.
