No, to be honest I don't really care what some English person thinks of me. I'd rather see my future children (if I have any) not have to deal with all of this bullshit. Future generations. And it's a long list. I've risked my freedom plenty of times by simply speaking out against the status quo.

These days I'm a bit more focused on personal survival. Because even the people who should be on my side, aren't.

I think, to be fair, your prejudices are coming out here. Most of the rest of the world doesn't, imho. Who are you? A propagandist for Al-Qaeda? Jeez.
In all seriousness, ofcourse the U.S has an influence on certain countries - the U.K in particular - why? because they speak English (we influence the world too, see), and they produce hundreds of hours of 'content' every single day, that can be fed into our culture.
What's a 'fast food culture'? What's a 'McCulture'? - both seem rather vague to me.
What about 'gang culture'? - undoubtedly an influence here.
But is every American in a 'gang'? no - obviously not.
Imho, I think you can write any narrative you like, and somebody will agree with it - yours being rather popular, but how true?

We are in a thread named 'Police State USA' - and we are both told we can't have any idea what the U.S is like because we do not live there.
But, would you say that the U.S is heading towards that? looks like that? Is that?

I would say the underlying feature of most Americans is they take everything too far, and everything is either black or white.
Which is exemplified by the pictures in the OP.
And I do get the feeling that: "WE'RE NUMBER 1" and "YOU NEED US MORE THAN WE NEED YOU".
But, I also get the feeling that most Americans don't give a hoot about any other country, or just it's not on their radar. Just like most people living here.

To be fair, they do. But even that always has to be extreme. How many flags do you see flying around U.S neighbourhoods etc? How many seem to have the Bill of rights stuck to their fridges? How many do you think have an extreme reaction if one of those seem to be being challenged/eroded?

I like to think of the U.S as a mixture of: 'Fox News', 'Happy Endings', 'The New Normal' and 'Rosanne' - with a little bit of 'Sons of Anarchy' for good measure.

i said nothing about hating you or your country, i just said that i'd rather live here. yes, our culture is influenced by the US, you're our biggest trading partner and only neighbouring nation, but we do have a culture very distinct from the US (especially as you get further away from the border).

i agree with your second paragraph, but unfortunately i don't see it happening unless there is some sort of drastic change (revolution.... well, i can't really think of anything else that would shake things up enough).

    Moving fast here...

But please try and relate comments to the OP.

    Going back a bit:
I have been in several situations and assuming I would have been armed, it would not have helped one iota in any of them. When you are facing an armed person who has gotten the drop on you, especially if you are outnumbered, there is really nothing you can do but try and retain some dignity. In one case I did the only thing I thought wise, took a minor beating and when my chance came, ran. If I had had a gun, the outcome would have probably been much worse.

And as I said before, I am not against guns, just certain guns, and guns in certain situations.

I do not carry a gun and am not afraid, or feel insecure when I go about my business. The best defense is awareness, not guns. If I had been more aware in the above situation, I never would have gotten into it in the first place.

I know I come off as an old has been at times but I have been around the block and could tell a few stories that I would not feel comfortable putting out on the net. Sometimes the view is different to one who has walked down the road.

You know I may live in Barking but I'm a Manchester girl. (Come on you Reds!)

Listen up there's no prejudice involved in what I wrote. I quit school and spent several years on the road and learned a thing about what's really going on in this world. So let me give you one small example and put things into perspective.

There's more McDonald's restaurants than the population of Spain. I've been in nations where people are starving and sleeping literally right behind a McDonalds. But what's even worse is they apply that same shyt mass production model to Mc cow farms in those nations and thereby destroying hopes of the locals being able to develop their own self-sustainabilty. (Not to forget the fact that many of those McFarms are armed to the teeth and anyone not white might gets shot)

And why is McDeath as big as it is? The same reason why more than 80% of all occidental transnational corporations are american owned and operated. Because the United States governement gives them unconditional love and support while the overwhelming majority of United States citizens don't care if other people are suffering as long as they get to stuff themselves for cheap in super size portions.

Sure there's good people in the United States but you have to look at the culture as a whole. How do you reason with a culture that just doesn't want to care about anyone else?

Therefore as I said before if the United States becomes a police state. Well what goes around comes around. They made their cup of tea now they got to drink it.

That's nice. I hate football, though.

    Are you sure?

    Population of Spain: Approx 47,190,493 - 2011

Approx No. of McDonalds worldwide: 34,000

Approx No. of Subways worldwide: 39,167

    Why isn't it a Subculture?

So, both terms are because there are a certain amount of Mcdonalds around the world? A term used to describe the nature of the increasing No. of fast food outlets? I dunno. Doesn't make any sense to me.

So have I, and only had to travel two miles.

Which nations are you talking about? India? From what I can gather, they add their franchises to other business (shopping centres/garages etc) - I think that's part of the industrialisation of the country.

No, there is absolutely no prejudice going on here is there *chuckle*
I don't think it is particularly fair to blame the suffering and misery of mankind on Mcdonalds or even Subway.

Your implying McDonalds is racist now? *chuckle* Are you implying that in countries, such as India, they only employ white people and only use white farmers? *chuckle*

    I don't think naval-gazing is a purely American trait.
It's not completely true, either - but then when they do venture out of themselves they are accused of Imperialism, and all manner of other negatives. They really can't win.

I think it is highly unlikely.

Well if you can't be a United fan then it's best you stay home and do some knitting. Because that way you save yourself the pain of loosing.

Ok you can't be that daft so you're either having a go at me or your bored and using me to alleviate that problem. Oh and yes there are more mcdonalds restos in the world than the population of spain. Contact Hamburger University for yourself ask them.

You think Spain has a population of less than 35,000?
Or almost worse even, you think McDonalds has over 47 million restaurants?

Or maybe there is some small town somewhere that is called Spain?
Even Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, has a higher population (49,000) than the number of McDonald's restaurants.

The global point remains valid but it loses validity because of the arguments and details given unfortunately. Odon's points are at least as valid and if asking reasonable or even confronting questions about details makes you a d-bag.... well, I must be one too :p

I'm not concerned about my team losing - because I don't have a team.

I'm not bored. I was responding to your comments. I think you may have screwed up with your statistics a little bit.
