in the states, if you don't show up to court you get a warrant for your arrest :)

well that's if they give you the option of A) going to court to contest the charge or B) plead guilty and mail in your fine. but i've never heard of that being an option for a weed charge. even though it just ends up being a fine, i think you have to go in front of the judge and get scolded.

    Yes.

They will take you to jail for an unpaid speeding ticket in America. For any reason you do not show up to court, regardless of how small the charge it.

Unfortunaltey it is your word against the cops. And to the judge that cop is an upstanding member of soceity, and you are the criminal drug user.

My mother worked with the wife of a cop (she divorced him for being such an asshole apparently), and she admitted that many cops feel it is ok to lie because the end justifies the means. In their mind they "know" your a criminal and they know no one will believe you, so they feel it's ok to add on their story in order to make sure you are guilty. Not every cop is bad, but most are cops because A. They were the bully in school, or B. They were bullied in school. Either way they want to be the one in charge, the tough guy with the gun.

That is sad - you wouldn't go to prison for a speeding ticket or parking fine thank goodness! Our cops are mostly bullies too!

dude - you have no choice - you have to cut off all your hair, wear a set of clothes you would never wear, and buy a plane ticket to some country that does not have extradition with the united states, like Cambodia or south America somewhere. if u cant afford a ticket, you have to walk - hitchhike - smuggle yourself ASAP across the border into Mexico. once there, make your way south, and keep moving. you will have at most a 2 day jump on the feds. always keep eyes in the back of your head for the rest of your life, never form any close relationships you couldn't leave without a seconds thought. your best bet would be to find a cave in some jungle somewhere and live out the rest of your life as best u can.

I personally have had this happen. I got a bit more of a scare when the cop claimed I had 2 times as much dope as I knew I had, plus said I tried to evade arrest. I was able to get all that shit dropped cause I was able to prove I didn't. Unfortunately, I think you're just going to have to take this one, especially if no one was around to see this at the time he pulled you over. Good luck with those dishonest pigs, and hopefully they can be avoided in the future!

if it was actually weighed.. i doubt they took it out of the bag.. which they never do anyways.. so always expect your weed to weight 1-2g more than you knew you had.. minnesota is 42.5g and under is a misdemeanor.. anything over is a felony.. .i've known folks that have gotten fucked because they had their oz wrapped in multiple baggies... which makes the weed heavier..

Yup. Bottom line is that they found weed in your car. Doesn't matter how much it is or how they found it. The only exception is if they found it while checking you for weapons.

Pork was right, most often they will ask for consent to search in a way that makes it sound like an order. You're gonna have to take this one but be smarter in the future. Each state has a "drivers rights" pamphlet. I suggest getting one and reading it. Keep it handy so any time ur pulled over you can place it where the cop can see it.

I went to high school in a small town where the coppers would pullover anyone that's out after dark. After a few times I picked up my drivers rights book and kept it on my dashboard. When the cops see this they know they can't fuck you around and will usually leave you alone.

Laws change depending on where you live,

It was a chance you were pulled over because the cop thought your seatbelt wasn't on. Or maybe because he is an ass.

I live in Texas, and here if the cop has any probable cause to think you have something illegal in your car, he is more than able to search you without a warrent now.

As for the cop lying about how much, maybe he didn't know the exact weight, and guessed, or he lied. Either way at least it isnt being in charged with distribution and just a small fee, i would just pay it and be more careful next time.

Next time I would be more careful with it, I keep weed at all times in my car, but its alway hidden in my trunk, under my spare tired in a small box. So unless you knew exactly where to look you wouldnt find it.

Cops do know where to look. They aren't stupid. Its best to keep it in plain sight hidden in a special safe.

Every time I've been searched (a dozen or so times) they've always looked under the spare tire in the trunk. Out of sight is not out of mind..

Edit: they're called diversion safes and come in a wide variety. Most commonly pringles cans and soda cans. I use a WD-40 can as I always have a lot of tools in my trunk, and no one thinks twice when they see WD-40 inside a tool box.

Yeah i know what you mean, but my car is modified, Under my spare I have a false backing, made of metal looks legitimate. I've been searched a few times, and they looked there before, but never found anything.

Sorry for not being more clear
