I blame them for spreading lies about LSD. Searching "LSD" on Google News used to bring up new studies and research showing how beneficial and positive it really is.

Now everything I see has to do with the man-eating incident, alongside a couple busts here and there. This has NOTHING to do with LSD. Either these cops are very uneducated, or they're lying on purpose, because these effects are obviously characteristic of PCP. And bath salts are completely unrelated to LSD.

I feel like the establishment is taking advantage of the incident to continue maintaining the drug war. I'd love to see MAPS (The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) respond to this.

Cops I expect to be uneducated. Media is *suppose* to research. I prefer to blame them.

Skip - There no mention as to wether the guy was just lying there and then started having his face eaten and didnt do anything about it. There could have been a fight, but obviously they are focusing about the eating of the face.

And to the people blaming the officer for shooting the cannibal - come on guys. I would have emptied a clip in him too. Weird thing to say, but I'm sure the zombie movies would have influenced my decision too...

Here's a pic of the guy who no longer has a face (on the right). He is a much older dude, Ronald Poppo, 65.

Looks like he's been in trouble before, hence the mug shot.

The cop has seen too many zombie movies and probably plays zombie themed video games...

Lots more info and much longer video now available! It seems the attack went on for 18 minutes during which time the attacker took off the homeless Mr. Poppo's clothes and started to eat him. According to this account it was VERY HOT in the 90s and Rudy Eugene, the attacker stripped off his clothes as he walked from the beach to the road, strewing them across the roadway.

It appears Eugene struck Mr. Poppo several times during the incident, so he must've been unconscious for much of it. I'm also thinking Eugene was very dehydrated, esp if he'd been drinking alcohol. Hey, imagine if this is all an Alcohol thing, not a bath salt thing! Are they going to put down alcohol like they're trying to do with bath salt?

So it's not like the two guys were together and had done the same drug. That means it's less likely to be scopolamine. As I mentioned before scopolamine reactions are much more intense in the heat, but it could also be PCP or some other drug.

They say the toxicology report will take a couple of weeks...

    See the video here:

I checked the path the attacker took, and it's about four miles from South Beach to where he attacked the homeless man, with absolutely NO SHADE along the way, the water reflecting the sun back in his face. He'd have to walk that distance with nothing to drink and with the temps in the 90s and humid as always in Miami, it would dehydrate anyone. Now if he'd been drinking a lot of alcohol, he must've been severely dehydrated by the time he got to the end of the causeway in Miami.

And no doubt he was pretty pissed off at his car not starting and then having to take that walk. And the dehydration probably was made worse by removing all his clothes, heating his body directly by the sun, increasing evaporation and dehydration.

So the man was definitely in an altered state at the end of his walk (and his life), without needing any other drug than alcohol. And if he mixed drugs with alcohol, the effects might've been magnified even more.

In any case, it's pretty sad, cause it was just an unfortunate series of events, that took a rational person and turned him into a monster.

If it was just alcohol, some cool shade and water might've returned him to normal in minutes.

This is quite the interesting puzzle. Still more pieces to find...

BTW, I lived in South Beach when I was six years old... It was so quiet back then! I used to walk all around the area myself then.

I think dehydration can make you lose your mind too, can't it?

Yes definetly interesting, commander. Looking forward to seeing the story unfold.

I found this. 15 Monkeys die in plane as they got shuttled all over the planet. Apparently cannibalism is something that can occur when extreme dehydration takes hold...

The guy needed a drink real bad...

Hmmmm, I'm very thirsty, oh, you look good enough to drink...

Realize that Zombies too, are also very dehydrated...

Yup me too, just like I feel for the monkeys in the plane. Isn't that amazing, how at one moment we view him as a monster, and the next we're feeling sorry for him...

Take a walk in his shoes and see how it feels (or his barefeet) - I wonder if he still had shoes on? Imagine walking 4 miles on that hot concrete with no shoes!

Wait, I remember seeing him barefoot in the pics. Now go take that walk he did and see how you feel, even without drugs or alcohol.
