Another brainwashed military pawn. Don't worry, there are many like you. I know some. I have to say, the people I know in the military -family and acquaintances- though I love 'em, they are not the brightest...

Being a paranoid music critic proves nothing either.

ummm...yeah, if you have to, usually one would read someone's profile to get the answer for themselves. I am a student and I have a part-time internship. This has no relevance to what I posted about your fellow military sacrificial lamb, you guys really stick together don't you...even through the most horribly wrong wars.
I know people in the military and all of them are not smart. Coincidence? Doubt it. I'm sure there are smart people in the military, but they are still pawns. Truth hurts, I'm sorry, but I think anyone is foolish to die for our government.

oohh, I hit a nerve I see. Mom and Dad provided for me? What is meant by that, I'm not sure. Yes, I was raised....fed and clothed and given shelter....is that wrong? You're weird. I'm putting myself through college. I don't think parents should pay their children's way through school, when I have kids, I won't.
You didn't have to take what I said personally. It is my opinion. You are willing to sacrifice for your country- some find that admirable, I find it pathetic and foolish.

hey, I just noticed that you have nearly 9,000 posts! Wow, our tax dollars hard at work huh? Go build a plane.

Damn girl, those were some bitchy posts.

I know nothing about crummyrummy, but airforcedrew is my fiance and I think I know what kind of person he is...and I'm sorry but he does not fit your little profile of a military member hon. He's a VERY intelligent man and he doesn't think we should be over in Iraq anymore than you do, AND if and when he does get sent overseas (which he's an alternate for at the moment) he'll actually be on a humanitarian mission, not a shoot first ask questions later mission. And if he did have to fight it CERTAINLY wouldn't be for our government of all things! He works for the people, and he works to help take care of his future family (gettin hitched in 2 weeks!! :D). He's not a fuckin pawn either. He isn't going to do shit that he knows isn't right. He hasn't yet. He even told off his supervisor for being an ass, so it's not like he's really afraid to deviate from his superiors' bullshit.

Get off your high horse, damn.

I don't think they were bitchy. Maybe I was to crummyrummy, but read his response to me...
All I said was the people I know in the military are not exactly scholars. I suspect it is more or less the norm. Perhaps your fiance is an exception. But then your opinion of him is sure to be biased.

You say he would be "different" if sent over to fight....sorry, but I'm sure most soldiers feel that they would only do the honorable thing. However, there is no honorable killing in war. If he was truly against the war in Iraq he would know this and refuse to go over.

He is not "working for the people". This is where the brainwashing is evident. He is working for the government. Please don't fool yourselves any longer. Congrats on your future wedding, I would do what you can to protest this senseless war if you really want a future.

Because I'm against war and feel military people are foolish, I'm on a high horse? That doesn't make sense to me.

Not because you're against the war, I am too, but the way you came across certainly seems like you're on a high horse to me...If I read it wrong, my bad, y'know how it can get on the internet.

Of course there are a lot of dumb military members. There are a lot of dumb civilians too. It's to be expected. We all know a lot of dumb people...some of them happen to have joined the military. Some of them join for stupid reasons (ie: My ex couldn't join due to a dead leg, but often said that he would if he could so that he could go kill some "sand n******), but a lot join because it's an easy way to get some money for school, or their at a dead end and need something stable, or their family is full of military members and they feel like they may have to (this isn't stupid, just shows one who's not really in control of their own life). My DF didn't join to kill anyone. That's why he's in the AF. AF has little to do with the action...unless their pilots I think, but he's not. He's a cop, he mainly guards things/people, and is looking into becoming a Chaplain's assistant (and often says it's because he'd feel good about protecting someone who deserves it). Like I said, he's an alternate for a deployment, not to Iraq mind you, and it's a purely humanitarian mission. He would be guarding things over wherever he might go. The AF does a lot of humanitarian missions. They're hardly out to kill people. He wants it all to stop. Read his latest post in here about us bombing the wrong house. They do a lot of good for people y'know. And the AF gets paid a good bit. He'll be supporting me for a while since I'm still a full time student, and I'm not worried about having money troubles. For some reason it's the army and marines...the ones usually in all the action, who don't get paid a lot. Who understands that? Anyway, like i said...he has already had a history of backtalking his superiors. He's knows the difference between right and wrong, and he has no qualms about telling anyone about it. This is why I love him and am marrying him. Because he is a great guy lol. May not seem like it on here. He kinda likes it when he stirs up trouble sometimes, although he mostly just likes to cut through the bullshit some people spew. Ahhh, I find myself defending him a lot because of the trouble he stirs up lol...I can't help it...I'm in love. But for a very damn good reason :). I'm sorry this is not the place to get all gushy and he's probably going to be embarrassed when he gets on here after he gets off work lol...oh well..I'm in a gushy mood since I'm getting married so soon...so sue me.

    Sorry!

And hey...I'm hardly some military lover. He joined after we started dating...and completely knocked me for a loop. He was afraid I'd dump him after he told me lol. And I was actually afraid he'd be brainwashed. But it's all good.

well, he shouldn't take it personally. I have loved ones in the military and I still don't really "support" them. I just think it is absurd to wage war. I think all soldiers should wake up and realize they are being used. I know it is politically correct to be ever-supportive of the troops, but I can't do it. It's probably wrong for me to take my frustration out on them though.

If you are so smart, then why are you saying things that contridict itself. It sounds like you are basing everyone in the military on the people you know. Thats stereotyping, which is why my fiancee says it sounds as if you are on a "high-horse." Stereotyping has done nothing beneficial to this world, and its generalizations, and people who stereotype who are ruining this world today. Holy wars are based on blind stereotypes.

The military has its fuck-ups, I will admit that. The airforce has a minimum asvab score of 50 to get in. Thats more than double the minimum for the army and marines. You have to have a diploma or GED to get in the air force period. So by you saying that everyone in the military is not smart, then you arn't saying much about todays education system.

I hope you don't judge everyone from your small sample group, because maybe you just attract dumb people.

    I've not contradicted myself.

Not everyone, but many. Some generalizations are correct as are some stereotypes. Again, it's not politically correct to admit, but I don't really care.

No, people who start and people who participate in wars are ruining this world.

Bingo. Yes, the education system is terribly insufficient.

I attract all levels of intelligence, no pattern that I'm aware of...
Anyways, over the years I've come to know many different types of people. Sooner or later you notice things that cause you to form generalizations. I've noticed that Mexicans are inconsiderate, people who like modern country music are not that bright, liberals listen to NPR.
Look, if you saw someone wearing tie-dye and sporting dreadlocks, you'd probably assume they are a "hippie" right? I just don't see anything wrong with that. It is obvious they are trying to communicate that to everyone. People dress certain ways to suggest things about themselves. It is not wrong to recognize this fact. I could go on, but I've strayed off topic as it is.

I am not very articulate, but the link is bullshit.
feel free to berate me and Ignore my opinions. I probably deserve it. But my knowing that is bullshit evidence being falsely presented does not mean I am happy about the situation in Iraq which for some reason everybody assumes I am. I see no winning situation for anyone involved. Leaving will only cause different people to die, but no less death. Odds are good it wont be buddies you got drunk with in High School dying if we leave, but you really think the power vacuum we created would improve with out our troops there attempting (not too successfully, I admit) to bring some stability. These people are killing their own people right now. How bad do you think it will get if they same oraganizations see a real possibility of grasping power. I have never berated anyone for being anti this war. I berated morons that let there heart felt disagreement about the iraq war blind their judgement and allow this stupid crap( the link in post 1) to be spread. I hope that clears up a little bit about me. Feel free to judge me as you see fit.
    Thank you.

I will agree that what she said was harsh, but in a way she's right. I don't think everyone who is in the military is dumb by any means. I would say the majority aren't very bright, or else extremely brainwashed.

I would say there are about four predominate characteristics/mindsets witnessed in the majority of people who join the military:

    1) They are of average, or even above average intelligence, but are too brainwashed to see past the propaganda they have been fed all their life. They are generally well-meaning people who think they're fighting for their country, when they're really fighting for a select few elites with almost unlimited power, that want even more power and control, who couldn't care less about them.

    2) They are mentally ill and enjoy killing. They get off on killing. It's like a drug to them. Some of these soldiers will likely return to the US as our friendly police officers, seeing to our protection and safety.

    3) They are extremely dumb and weak-minded, and need to be told what to do.

    4) They are desperate and/or on the verge of homelessness.
