BS pure and simple. Read the Gita.

    So why try?

And why the interest in 'Hinduism' which it seems, doesn't fit at all with your ideology?

The Bhagavad-Gita is indeed a powerful spiritual document, but like the bible, it has been distorted by people like yourself who remain susceptible to the allure of a fundamentalist mentality.

Who said I was trying? ;)

Or that I was interested in Hinduism? (which by the way reflects my "ideology" perfectly, as do all spiritual traditions I have encountered thus far).

This just goes to show the shalowness and even futility of internet forums.
How anyone could construe my comments as 'fundamentalist' is beyond me, and I'm sure. those who know me. I am the fundies worst dream babe

It seems to me that you have picked up on fragmentary teachings which you consider 'hindu' and have managed to convert that into a kind of aggressive egotism.
It's your problem. I just look at the way you say what you say and attack my dear God Loving pal Kumar, and I groan.

What the fuck is it with some of you people?

    You.

I didn't say your comments were fundamentalist. I said you remain susceptible to the allure of fundamentalism. Big difference.

Being the "fundies worst dream", however, doesn't help your case.

Considering your reactionary responses to my posts, I'd say it's yours, at least for the time being.

    Oh yeah? Quote it.

I have no intention of quoting anything. Your own words show your attitude, and I'm sure other forumers can see that quite clearly.

    Sorry for u my freind.

That's quite correct, but Kumar is only pointing to the lineage in the past, which Yogananda Himself was keen to promote.

The masters give us yesterday - it is for us to create tommorrow.

Because there isn't anything to quote, which was of course my point. You do have a tendency to edit your posts after they've been responded to, though, don't you? Tsk, Tsk, BBB.

Ah well. I really think you are trying it on. I used to be just the same. So I can't be too critical.

I hope you are happy anyway...nothing really to add.:D

BTW - LOVE - means LOVE. whether you wait for shaktipat to realize it or not.

You could probably get shaktipat from several people on here if you were astute.

    Kumar
    SGB
    Chief Cowpie
    Bhaskar
    to name a few.

You will never truly realize the meaning of love until you overcome your dependency on words.

Thanks for the tip, but the stage of my path wherein shaktipat would have been relevant has long since passed.

Literal interpretation of scripture is one of the red flags of a fundamentalist mentality -- just in case you were interested. ;)

Translation: "Your posts have exposed my ego distortions (thus rendering me somewhat less than fully coherent -- I therefore disguise my incoherence as "crazy wisdom"), but I still offer some remnants of my good-will to the aspect of your online persona that I can project upon. I have also forgotten that walking the path usually encompasses multiple lifetimes, and have chosen to use my perceived advanced state to boost my ego."

I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless, BlackBillBlake. :)

I'm glad that at least you are still posessed of some courtesy:D

That shows that you are 'numbered among the blessed' despite my suspicions!

I wouldn't worry about your 'ego distortions' - just be who you are.

I for my part don't worry about mine, because I know they are the gift of the divine to me.

So - do what you WILL.

But try always to act with kindness....

If u can... and I know you can...

Because ...there is no difference between us. In essence.

Not courtesy actually, just appreciation of your attempt to maintain some semblance of good rapport despite just having been subjected to harsh criticism -- so perhaps I'm not quite so "blessed" after all. ;)

I have no other choice, friend -- and if you do, there is still much work to be done.

I act in whichever way I am called to act. Whether that action manifests as kindness or as ferocity, or as something else entirely, isn't up to me.

No, you don't know that I can -- which is probably a major contributing factor to our somewhat adversarial dynamic (not that that's a problem :D)

Good. Now stop thinking it and start embodying it.

lol...perhaps you'd like to re-arrange that list and put me at the bottom...I've been spending most of this thread trying to figure out what the heck shaktipat is and why you are all nitpicking the particulars of it. I'm guessing it is some sort of energy transfer, yes? Most likely from a guru? I'm only guessing b/c of the talk of diksha earlier in the thread.

Ummm but from what I could gather (and correct me if I'm off topic...or missed the point) that it really doesn't matter (which I believe Bhaskar, Kumarji, and BBB all pointed out in someway)... whether one receives "Grace" (for use of a better word) directly from the Divine or from an Enlightened Guru... it is Grace all the same. Readiness was mentioned and I totally think that's true... Practice was mentioned as well... and both of these things are essential in any tradition's quest for the Goal (whether it be Grace, God, Nirvana, ect).

I also saw Radareyes that you expressed a disdain for chanting... but I would disagree with you and say that the Names of God is so incredibly important...especially if we want to talk about Divine Energy...so much Grace and beauty and Divine ...as well as practice in many different forms, flow from God's Name. But of course, this is all just what I have learned and my small experience...and there are many paths to any Goal that you need to reach...

Sorry if I went off topic a bit...I do that a lot. haha...

    Please RadarEyes and BBB,
Stop the bickering. It is not becoming of spiritual people. All the philosophy in the world is useless if you cannot live in harmony.

    love and Om,

So, can someone give Shaktipat without realizing what they are doing?
