pitbulls arent evil... it depends how you bring them up.. they can be very loving... like any other pet...

rotties too get a bad name... i have one a year now and he's just a big baby..

and il raise the pittbull the same... and he'll probably turn out the same :) [IMG]

he's fine around cats already, and the dogs... he'll be fine... not a "monster"

seems like you here that on the news " it's the sweetest dog, it plays with my kids or grand kids and is so sweet. It never hurt anyone." Then it chew the shit out of someone or something. You never really know what your dog will do, you can work with them and work with them and they are still a dog that has the potential too hurt something

    Aye same thing, different term.

"phrase referring to a dog used or bred for working livestock"

but you could say that about every dog...

they all have the potential to hurt someone or something..

then why did you say i was wrong?
like i said my uncle made a living working these dogs. i know what they are bred for. i also know that when they are turned loose on livestock, that animal has been marked for death. there is no saving the animal once a group of pits "catch" it.

i have seen a pit clean up to its ass inside of a cow through its neck by the time we got to it..

    geeze.. no im not wrong...

Damn near exact build of my dog Onjo, but he's a little more matured, I think(Rampage).

I never rally cared for the fawn color though. I just dealt with it cause the dog was awesome...

Oh you're still wrong, because you're applying what your uncle does to the breed to the whole breed. If the whole breed was like you say, there would be no hope for pits. You would have to have a license to have one and you definitely wouldn't be able to keep one in any populated area. Chows are more aggressive than pits, and they don't even get as bad a rep.

I believe, Indiana requires you to register with the city if you have one now(If they havne't passed it yet, they will be...)

Shit, Dalmatians are like the devil incarnate but, they get no attention because they're cute fire dogs. Spotted satans are more like it.

But that's Indiana, tiny. Lol seriously, a few places have banned pits but that's just because of the hype of their bad rep. If they were a fraction of what the media has made them out to be, there would have been a country wide extermination already.

It's the 16th largest state by population.... Size has nothing to do with the discussion of animal bans...

my uncle is dead.. ;) this may come as a shock to you but way back before you were born folks did things a wee bit different than they do today..

see the reality is this IS what they were bred for and it did involve them KILLING..

need i remind you of this comment in the wiki article.
now i know you have grown up in a world where such acts are unthinkable but the reality is , that IS what the breed was bred for..

as far as the breed being hopeless, just because thats what they were bred for, thats ridiculous. they were also bred for loyalty and companionship.

just because they were bred with a killer instinct does not make them hopeless..

see, your looking at it like things have always been the way they are now. i got news for ya,20 or 30 years is a long time and a lot changes..

when i was growing up my uncle traveled all over the southeast doing away with feral livestock and was paid well. could he get away with it today? probably not.. would a group of pitbulls instinctively take down a wild hog or cow even today.. your god damned right they will whether you believe it or not..

and yes that includes pit bulls who are peoples pets..

Yes it does actually well far as media attention which of course affects/influences discussions and laws concerning animal bans, which was what I was implying with size. I'll put it this way, I currently live in Texas (2nd biggest in pop US) and if they passed a law here banning pits, I can can assure you other states would follow. Just like California (another huge state) and medical marijuana. Usually takes a big state to get the ball rolling.

Populace affects media more than the size of a state.... You don't see Alaska in the media too often in regards to dog attacks and things like that and it's the largest state in this country...

As you pointed out with Cali and Texas, they're highly populated areas, not just big land masses like Alaska.
