Geez, I always thought this was just a fun forum.

 

The troll is that McRaver person who posted that picture of a deformed foot. And I guess, as I wrote before, he's all too happy with the reverberation of his immature prank.

BTW, this is not the first time someone posted a picture of that kind in this thread, and it is enough to make people sick, when they expect to see other barefooters sharing moments of their barefoot fun and pleasure and instead are facing the kind of shit as posted by that guy who now made it as the newest entry on my ignore list.

I can understand Boogabah and her anger. I was pissed off by that picture, too, and since someone already had spoken up - in a manner that other barefooters can relate to, I'm sure - I refrained from venting my anger.

It wasn't the first time that someone had posted a gross picture, either... as you might remember, if you followed this thread, it was on Dec. 1, 2008, when a nasty picture went up in this post:

At that time, it was replied to in a humourous way, although it was a rather nauseating thing, as I wrote in my reply to that post. And I know that you were there back then, since I saw you replying on the same page - to another post, but still.

The thread title, as Boogabah pointed out correctly, is Pictures of your feet - and not Pictures of malformed feet maimed by wrong footwear and neglect. Therefore, I suggested to get back to our previous silent footsteps and leave it at that. You made your point (thinking that Boogabah did overreact) quite clear... however, I'm not sure that it's a sign of maturity to just yell "chill the fuck out" twice and call another person someone - quote - "acting like an immature, hysterical bitch" - unquote.

Freedom of speech can be a two-edged sword, really... Boogabah was and is free to tell the world that she is pissed off big time by that McRaver person's behaviour - and rightly so. You have the freedom to say what you think, as well... but if what you have to say amounts to "chill the fuck out" - with the same sense behind it as "shut the fuck up!" - and then culminates in a repetition paired with a personal insult, then you have trespassed the line where freedom of speech ends and aggression and verbal abuse begins.

Right. Now I'm stepping off that soap box I stood on (barefoot, of course) and leave it at that.

After months of lurking about in this group, I finally found the courage to post my barefoot pic - only to have this experience somewhat ruined for me by McRaver posting that picture of the deformed foot with its' fungus infected toenails right after mine.

I guess it's his right to post it, but I don't want my picture on the same page, so I'll remove mine and repost it at some later date.

I think most of the folks here are cool and supportive, and the group has so much potential on so many positive levels - yet I recognize there are always gonna be exceptions. So be it...

McRaver, if you posted that photo in a mean spirit or with malicious intentions to disrupt the group, your mission has been accomplished. Feeling better?

If it was intended to be a joke, it's offended some people here. A bigger person will recognize his error (if that's what it was) and delete that posting.

I thought most folks joined this group for their love of going barefoot and the camaraderie and acceptance in finding others with the same interests. As far as I'm concerned, when one person in the group is offended, we all suffer for it. Look at how quickly the in-fighting has started - all from one posting...<sigh>

Life's too short for bullshit. Take it from an old-timer! What's going on here is really special. Don't mess it up gang!

My post as quoted above was to exemplify how to get rid of a nauseating picture in a faster way than waiting for a mod/admin to deal with it or than waiting for the original poster to take it down himself.

p.s. i forgot to say that the real troll post was mine when i posted a photograph of an old chinese woman's deformed foot. that was i call forum trolling

I'm more disturbed at how intolerant people are against feet that aren't pretty than by the picture of those deformed toes. Nowhere does it say that feet have to be pretty to be posted, and while it does say 'pictures of YOUR feet', I don't think anyone would even think of checking whether the pics posted are indeed of the poster him/herself when they are beautiful. If anything, requiring all feet to be beautiful would be off-topic, since the guidelines for the entire 'Bare it' forum include "this is not a fetish forum" and posting pretty-feet-only seems to come awfully close to that....

And this is more disturbing than any picture can ever be to me (and yes, I do know the 'ugliest feet competition' from toefun.com). Do you also change places when someone with a facial deformity or heavy scarring sits next to you on the bus?

The picture itself didn't even make me blink, but the discussion that has ensued after it has greatly disappointed me. Tolerance apparently only lasts when it's pretty, even on HipForums. Bah.

 

Going back to the original post by Hippie McRaver, if that was a photo of his own foot, I think he has every right to post it. There are lots of people out there who have deformed feet, toes, fingers, faces, and appendages. Sad, but true. Some people have to bear these scars throughout their lives and I don't feel it's my place to judge.

On the other hand, if this was posted as a "joke," as it appears it was, it isn't funny. To make fun of other's physical deformities is cruel. To me it's no different than making fun of a special needs child (or adult) or someone with a physical deformity. There's no humor in someone's else's challenges.

Okay, I've wasted enough energy on this topic. Can we just forgive and forget and go forward hoping we all learned a little about respect?

In the spirit of returning to topic, here's one of mine. I took it last year, but my feet (and the rest of me too!) are still too pasty white to post anything more recent.
