Pictures Of Your Feet Part Two

While working in the office on a Saturday means overtime and less free time on a weekend, it also means being able to wear my favourite outfit and be barefoot there, due to the absence of bosses... So, here's some of my office barefooting: enjoying wet paved ground while taking a cig break, happy soles in the office and feeling wet pine needles on a sidewalk after work (someone had put out last year's X-Mas tree for the municipal garbage collection to take away):

Playing around with Gimp 2.6 while processing the pictures of yesterday's sunday barefoot stroll in the park (featured in detail in my barefoot diary), I created several psychedelic-looking pictures of my bare feet:

Yes, on one of my machines, I am... I have a little netbook for mobile use, running Ubuntu - but on my big machine, where I'm running the evil W :smilielol5:, I have installed Gimp as well... it can be downloaded for free and runs on Windows platforms, too.

And both units feature a barefoot heroine as desktop background... Neytiri - one gorgeous barefoot role model, even if she lives on a moon way off-Earth.

Oh, almost forgot - I shouldn't really post in here without pictures, now, should I?

Bare feet wearing protection from the cold: leg warmers and a layer of bag balm in 2°C/36F cool air (and the ground slightly cooler) - early morning, before work, last Tuesday:

Very nice looking tribals in the snow!! I don't have snow... I just kept my circulation going in -4°C/25F sunny weather on Sunday, by walking on grit... the nice pink glow confirms that I was doing just right...

The shine is from bag balm, which I put onto my feet as a protective measure against the cold, since it was -2°C/almost 27F yesterday afternoon, when I ventured out onto a barefoot shopping trip and decided to take a break and have a capuccino, while wiggling my toes - or vice versa.

Monday, early morning before work... fluffy and freshly fallen snow underfoot:



Monday afternoon, after work... the snow had molten away, and temperatures are slowly on the rise above frost level. Happy ~*Ganesha*~ feet on blacktop at the bus stop, headed home:

Now I have one on both ankles for balance

 

Cute... are you planning to get that footprint filled in black, so that it'll look like Tinkerbell's black footprints on Peter Banning's shirt in Hook?

I've never done the attachment thing before

I guess it's the easiest way to post a picture that you don't have a url for (right? I'm kind of computer stupid, but I think an image only has a url if it's ALREADY on the internet, right?)

Anyways, I just took this picture of my lovely, enormous puppies

 

From what I have learned on other Webpages, you have what is called Morton's toe, when the second toe sticks out further than the halux or great toe.

I have no idea of what that's about, just a description.

My friend Eddie has that, and to a degree I guess I do also.

 

I had considered it. Most footprints are filled in, but I wanted it similar to the bones on the other ankle so I will leave it as an outline. BTW, that is actually drawn from my own footprint.

 

From the Wikipedia article on Morton's toe:

"It has a long association with disputed anthropological and ethnic interpretations. Morton called it Metatarsus atavicus, considering it an atavism recalling prehuman grasping toes. In statuary and shoe fitting it has been called the Greek foot (as opposed to the Egyptian foot, where the great toe is longer). A longer second toe has often been associated with royalty, particularly during the rule of the Ptolemaic dynasty when Egypt was under Greek rulership. It was an idealized form in Greek sculpture, and this persisted as an aesthetic standard through Roman and Renaissance periods and later (the Statue of Liberty has toes of this proportion). There are also associations found within Celtic groups. The French call it commonly pied grec (just as the Italians call it piede greco), but sometimes pied ancestral or pied de Néanderthal[2]."


So, actually, it's nothing to worry about... just a type of foot shape (I have it, slightly, too). And the interpretations are nice... it's a sign of royalty or a sign of going back to our barefoot, tree-climbing ancestors...

Our toes want to go back to Mother Nature! Let them by baring them.
