I'm guessing that you were dangerously sober... a sort of nuclear ultra sobriety that few people have achieved and lived to tell the tale.

Do not walk into the light- or the very fabric of reality itself will unravel, volcanoes will erupt, there will be earthquakes, floods, fires; cats will yodel, disease and pestilence will overspread the land, crops will fail, feet will grow extra, superfluous toes, and politicians will wear multi-colored wigs.
