I'm quite happy it looks like you'll be able to go to the Philly Folk Festival :) My home in the the States is not too far from the festival site. But I can't go this year for obvious reasons. Well, there's next year.

Your kidding, right? Dave is a really good friend of mine. He has spent Many a night on my couch. Wow! that is really weird. I never expected Brown's name to be mentioned. Even though he seems to be kind of famous at Fest. Do you know Shipley, TJ, Nicole, etc...? Are you by any chance a musician?

I think Dave Brown was in the campsite right next to us this past year. I know I played drums with him in our campsite. I didnt know it was called funk junction, dont remember the sign. Our campsite this past year was called the grotto. We had a halloween night.

You dont photograph bad, duck. i know i do. :p

anyways, i have a couple questions.... they say no drums and no alcohol. if i wanted to bring like a 6 pack for me to drink... will they search me? and do people still play drums there?

    also...

i know you dont park by your campsite... how long of a walk will it be with all my stuff. im bringing a lot of it- like tent, chairs, grill, etc.

I brought a 30 pack last year, thing is they wont let it through the gate, they dont care once its in there just put anything you want to bring in a bag. This year Im jsut going to bring a bottle of the good stuff, quart of rum, quart of tequila. Once you get locked into a serious drug collection like mine the tendency is too push it as far as it will go. haha.

Yes they allow percussion too same deal, i think they jsut had too many people who dont play respectfully or well playing at all hours so they put that on the list.

And yea its bit of a hike but not too much, and they will let you park close to unload i belive.

Yea I heard about the shuttle, but never used it, I volunteer so on wed they let you temporarily park at the gate to unload then park in the far area.

I just checked out the website for the Folk Fest and it seems like they are going to be really strict. If I go this will be my first year. I was just wondering, from anyone that has been to this before, are they strict with all those rules that are on the website. It even says that your not allowed to smoke ciggerets in the concert area unless your in a "designated smoking area during main stage acts ONLY." I went to Bonnaroo this year and I know that this is nothing compared to that but everything was so laid back there. So what does everyone think of all the rules?

Yea, hopefully they won't be strict about the rulls. I'm just a little worried because compared to Bonnaroo this is a very small festival so I don't know if they will crack down on drugs and things like that. At Bonnaroo there was no way of stopping 90,000 people from doing what they want to do. Anyone thats been there before: Are cops allowed there or is it private property (like Bonnaroo)?
