Well, it's not a great idea to keep pets, as it's captivity for them. Unless you have great outdoor conditions to offer them - a nice, big garden, if you are an outdoor person yourself and give your pet a good, daily walk...
I let my cats outside but I think they would rather be indoors most of the time. At least it seems that way seeing as how one of them is at the door to come in right now. Our dog likes to just lay inside to, we take him out alot and it just makes him mad. Love, Gin
Even though I currently don't have any cats, I'd never let mine be outdoor again. Too many bad experiences with outdoor cats. I remember one of my cats caught a disease and died, and another got hit by a car...All my indoor cats have lived long happy lives.
I remember a story of an Indian yogi who had a pet tiger. The tiger only drank milk, and was as tame as any house cat. Who's to say if it was the tiger, the diet, or the keeper? x
Willy, CC, ease up! Form the zillions of online debates on carnivore pets, here's what I distilled: dogs are more likely to survive and some thrive, on a veg diet as long as adequate protein and amino acids are available. Cats, well, cats are obligate carnivores and will go get bugs, no matter what. Cats actually have serious problems on vegan diets that can shorten their lives. I've also known animals who will be different just to spite you. No matter what, feed your companion animals with intention: know what's in the food. If you start on a veg diet, know EVERYTHING they need and what the deficiency signs are. be prepared to take your values off the pet if it is impacting their quality of life, or be prepared to find them new homes. or live with herbivores....
