and as the "smarter" species, perhaps that gives us a responsibility to help instead of harm.....to use our compassion and smarts to do good for ALL others....even insects.......just a theory

By ceasing to eat animals, you may indirectly hurt them. If we are all equal, then I demand you stop all animals from eating each other. That way all of us are truly equal. the whole "they get the message out though" kinda doesn't sit well with me. Does that give them more right to do those things, because of what they say they are promoting? Bombing is suddenly okay because Peta wants to it be? Peta does some extreme, way out there things to "turn" people to plant based foods. Most people that I have talked to here, that only turns them more onto meat.No one likes someone trying to make them feel inferior or stupid. If someone were to say that what you were doing was wrong and idiotic for say not wearing shoes, are you gonna put shoes on? Most likely not. I don't preached plant based foods. If I am not mistaken, PeTA is against hunting too. Those animals have a chance to survive. A chance to live. Using your logic, PeTA must hate most of the animals that they are trying to "save."
Are you stuck on a island with no farming equipment? no other food to eat besides animals? no?..... so you have a choice.
When you hunt for fun or "sport" it's unecsesary. Hunting is not a sport. It's only a sport when both teams know they are playing. I don't like the fact that people kill for fun. If there is someone that is actually living off the land and has no help from civilization then fine. Hunt for survival. But I don't see how someone gets pleasure out of killing just for "sport".
