Just for kicks & giggles - I found a nutritional table for several types of creepie-crawlie: http://www.ent.iastate.edu/misc/insectnutrition.html I know from my child/teen-hood that the following are... well, not gross? mealworms (my son had these at his Fear Factor birthday party a year ago) crickets (he had these too... and LOVED them!) locusts a candy-coated caterpillar & some sort of peanut-butter deep-fried spider (these were brought back from Africa) and various garden-variety ants & worms. I guess... y'know I think I COULD try insects again! Maybe. love, mom
I don't care if it lived on land or water, outerspace, in the cavaties of your gaping mangina, I don't see the difference in eating stuff because it lived somewhere else or it's a different size makes it ok, it doesn't.
Oh, and I do agree with y'all. I promise that if I decide to start munching bugs I'll be sure to tell people I'm an insectivore & not a vegetarian. I also don't think it's likely. The thought is intriguing every once in awhile, but... yeah, I don't think I could honestly "go there" anymore. The boys dared me to eat a cricket at DS' birthday, and I just couldn't stomach the thought... even though I HAVE eaten them before, I couldn't do it! love, mom
