personality vs appearance

Tom, do you enjoy stumbling into a room of people chatting, only to discover their conversation to be shallow by your own standards. Do you then enjoy blasting the author of the conversation, only to find that everyone else in the room thinks you're out of line and wishes you would just GTFO?

First off... how have I taken her out of context?

Secondly, how have I rabidly attacked her, she posted a request for opinions... I offered mine...

Since then, it has become more and more of a free for all attack on me, because I called it the way I saw it, and offered an opinion when one was asked for.

As for the whole, why not try to be decent to her? Because I don't like shallow people and don't waste a single second of my time, trying to make them feel better.

Perhaps the impression I got of her is wrong... perhaps its right, I really don't know and don't care... If I have a bad impression of someone, for whatever reason, I am not going to lose a seconds sleep over how they feel about me.

Why would I? Why would anyone??

 

Not being able to infer the tone of her post as satirical is taking out of context.

If you have a wrong impression of her which you admit you may have...

why should you be concerned if you insult her even though your impression is wrong?

You ask this question, and then wonder why everyone is going at you?

and you ask the wrong question... do I enjoy speaking my mind would be better... or do I enjoy backing up what I say with the reason's I said it... or do I enjoy conversations where people are forced to step back from their normal nonsensical standard line and actually think about what is being said... or do I enjoy being able to speak my opinion in a forum that specifically about people speaking their opinion....

the answers to all of those, is yes, very much so...

People are allowed to make insulting comments to one another based on sex, age, gender, race, disabilities and so on here as long as it isnt directed at another user, and it is defended as their right to do so....

And then you expect me to think I should in some way tone down the fact that I am also allowed the exact same thing?

I am fully willing to admit that maybe I missed some sort of secret code in the OP that made me misinterpret it...

Here's the way I see it...

she asked a question, offered choices and said be honest...

this part I took to be a serious post... and what I said, stands if it was...

If it wasn't, just what clue did I miss that made it so?

The last part, when I first read it, my thought was that it was sarcasm, mainly because it was marked with a wink... except that it wasn't... it was just a smiley face. To which I took to mean that she was happy that she was a shallow person and happy with the fact that her and 'hottie' would get along...

So, which clue is it in here that I missed that makes this sarcasm? Was I supposed to get a secret decoder ring in my email?
