where did I ask anyone to present her?

    where did I even say that she as a person was shallow? Look at my first post;

Where did I ask for more proof of anything? Where did I expand that into her being a shallow person? Where did I say anything other then, going by this post, she was a shallow person??

as for the whole issue of directing this at her or not, when someone says something I see a point in responding to, I do, what's hard to grasp about that???

You're right, I did say that... after all this bullshit had started.

So, on the matter of whether or not she is a shallow person as a whole... I have no clue... and I apologize for saying so.

On my original comment which started all of this in the first place, I stand by.

    Alright than.

Well I'm not sure debating the verisimilitude of her original post, versus the ironic nature she intended it is necessarily productive for me.

If she wants to, she can, and if not, I'll leave it there. Have a nice stay Tom. Try not to take everything that's said here at face value.

Yes, I've been told that before, and realize that in dealing with the general population, whether in society at large, or online here at hipforums it would be great advice to follow.

If I didn't consider the lack of substance in what people say to be one of the biggest problems we have.

Perhaps you should look at the disconnect between what a character says and what's understood as true, (irony) isn't a lack of substance, but a device used to convey a certain disdain for the subject material. (shallowness)

If you're not a fan of irony Tom, that's fine. But give people a little leeway to express themselves.

Listen, I really do appreciate the meaning behind your advice, but you are mistaken in thinking that this make my life hard in any way.

I have been around hipforums for a very long time... when it starts getting to where it becomes hard on me, I leave until I feel like coming back again.
I will be here for a long time yet.

Being called an asshole for expecting people to actually mean something when they speak, doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, it is a part of who I am and always will be.

I quite enjoy being me... if it offends people whom I wouldn't want around me in the first place, thats just bonus...

I know you can stick up for yourself and all. I just like sticking up for you because you're mighty pretty, and I'm real fine shallow.

I am a fan of irony, but I really don't see where irony, nuances or shades affects any of this...

As for what is assumed is true... I don't know which boards you are reading when you come here, but every concievable opinion is assumed to be true by someone on this board...

    Just wonderin'..

Are you aware of your own irony?

that is unless you actually enjoy the company of those who you wish were not around.

But really, there is a difference between sarcasm/irony and simply not saying what one means. It seems the nuance is above you. So go ahead, proceed in being an ignorant jerk... and by all means leave again if you like, we seem to have more fun without you here. Though this is certainly entertaining in another sense.

Some of us embrace our inner ass-holery... I personally keep a measure close by as it works well in debates. I must ask you if you really expect someone to alter their attitude because you've expressed an opinion? I can't help but infer an expectation that Tom values your opinion for some reason.

If you are the nice person you claim to be (and I have no reason to suspect otherwise :) ) you might try taking the time to appreciate that not everyone can live to those lofty standards of interpersonal energy you see yourself achieving these days. You're a reformed asshole? Excellent! Good for you and those around you! Some folks may not suffer from being assholes, they may enjoy every minute of it...

Then again the definition of what's an asshole varies from person to person.

So, I ask for someone to explain this nuance that I apparently don't see, and the response is... nah, continue as you are...

    Alright...
