I disagree! I feel as though what we would do without cognitive thought is our natural purpose. Eating, playing, reproducing, etc. Let's not get wrapped up in semantics right now, that will just feed confusion. And my general purpose was exactly that. a general purpose. Only I can give my life its purpose, which is what I said. To experience it as only you can experience it.
Since you have cognitive thought you don't know what you would do without it. If you want to talk philosophy then semantics are important to reduce confusion. Are you confused? Makes no sense to me. And where is the neutrality in that statement?
I know what I would do, by watching animals, which is what we are. And I will not be. falling off anything is what i meant. I do not think I'm better or worse than other people, because everyone is better and worse than everyone else. And you were using semantics to confuse, I was speaking simply, while you made it more complex. Anyway I'd love to debate this topic and whereever it may go, but im on a phone and its irritating with constant autocorrections and the lack of battery D:<
You know how you would behave by watching another living being? Would you know how you would behave in case of a fire by watching a fireman? Again this makes no sense to me. I would say overly simple. But that is clearly your choice, I just like to be as precise as I can. bye then.
i'm on a computer now! yes, i know how i would behave by watching another being, definitely. i've always been obsessed with patterns, and in nature they are ever apparent. so by observing patterns, i could apply that to myself. and yes, i would know how to act in case of watching a fireman, because that is exactly how firemen learn to be firemen, learning from example for something solid like that is usually, for me, the best method of learning. and it makes no sense? why? everyone gets on their high horse, because they feel they're better than someone for a particular reason. but there are also reasons they are worse than others, so no one is really better than others, because everyone is the same. a person facing a struggle. a person reacting to their struggle. i do simplfy things, but that is because they're not as complex as people like to think. cognitive thought gives you the choice to be complex. but simplicity should not be looked down upon for being simple, in fact i prefer someone who can live without all the bells and whistles to someone who needs the crutch of society. but this is relative to personal perspective.
I have never seen so much thought being put into coming up with reasons why we should not think so much or why should nt think at all. I think in this respect we are very different from animals. They could not think of som many reasons to stop reasoning.
well, for the purpose of debate, why not explore every edge of possibility given by cognitive thought? with profound thought, comes simplicity of mind. :daisy:
I'm trying hard to understand your logic, but I really can't... Simplicity and simplicying things is good, when it doesn't cut important part. If you see leaf falling, you can't say that everything is falling. You could argue that universe is floating, but it is not that simple there. If you see a pen you can't say everyone is a pen, even if we share similar atoms...
its okay, not alot of people follow what i say, especially since i've got such a non-specific way of explaining. but i'm not saying, that everyone acts the same. but there are cycles. there are patterns in behavior. similar concepts, parallel actions, do you follow? i actually could find some articles written about this sort of thing, but i'm lazy u___u
It might sound foolish to discuss reasons why we should not think or what would happen if we stop to think, but it's a natural part of thinking itself. By exploring every possible way we have to use our brain, we discover more and more about it. We have superior cognitive abilities to animal because we have more areas of our brain that are dedicated to associate the different sensations we get from our senses. Thought is associating those sensations with memories. In this regard, experiences are an extremely important foundation of our personality. This is why, I believe, babyjay said that we should think less and be more open to our primar feelings/needs. By thinking too much, we deprive ourselves from experience. However, I deeply believe that important experience should be analyzed afterwards, in order to understand and to assimilate them. Your first sentence made me laugh though.
plus i believe that everything is connected and that none of it matters. everythings the same. just stuff. and all of it is insignificant. people always tell me my mind is warped, i think everyone elses has been warped by thinking what they do, really matters. there are consequences for actions, of course, equal reactions to every action, but its still all pretty damn insignificant... does that help? @_@
Sure there are, the most common would be the fibonacci numbers, but not all can be seen by eye or by unexperienced person and it is quite important to stick to the proper semantics if you want to avoid missunderstandings.
see, we're thinking ourselves in circles here! we need to be more primal, but i agree, thinking about actions is a good way to realize things about yourself. ack!
i'm terrible at avoiding misunderstandings... but thats what i'm talking about. not all are tangible things to see with your eyes, but rather patterns you must observe over time. there are types of people, who do certain types of things, and even when they step outside of their comfort zone, they still act the way you would expect them to.
so do we really have free will and cognitive thought, if we stay within the way we would react to things? but not reacting the way you would, doesn't make sense. that seems like chaos, actually. i don't even know what to think about that^
We have to some limit. There must be some boundaries. Like there doesn't exist absolute freedom. What if someone would want to not be free? He is free, so he decides to not be free, so he isn't free anymore, so he doesn't have freedom?
we have a boundary, our bodies are boundaries for our minds! but he is free, and chooses that he doesn't want to be free, he is still free, his only boundary is the one he makes for himself....?
