I would like to point out the fact that if people are constantly labeling you as a hippie.... You Probably Dress Like All The Other Hippies! Tie-dye anyone? So as far as the whole 'preps look the same! they hate indiviuality!'.... well if you own more than one piece of tie dye and pot t-shirt or soemthing to that effect you fall in the same boat. speaking of which, has anyone else noticed how the term 'preppy' is mis-used these days? Preppy is supposed to be country club wear! all pastel colors and plaids and sweater vests and knee socks. All these people labeled as 'preps' wouldn't be caught dead actually dressing preppy.....
Haha, thanks Suze. I was gonna say that but was lazy The other day my youngr sister was trying to tell me that the guys who walk around with 'popped collars' are preps. You should dress prep and freak out your art homis...
i used to get called a lot of things besides just "hippie." from freshman- senior yr, one guy coined me "earth mama" because apparently there used to be this porn site, called earthmama.com where earth chicks w/ dreads & hair everywhere posed naked...(i had dreads, ok? ) aside from that, "freckleface," "cheetah," "partygirl," i once got called "fried lice" because i wore chopsticks in my hair:& the freckle jokes really hurt. people used to make fun of my hair too. damn ass high school...now i'm all angry...*center, center*:H
i remember one time in english class my teacher made a comment about "berkinstock wearing, granola eating, tree hugging...etc" i confronter her in the middle of her speach, i just said loudy " whats wrong with that? " comment was made eyeing me, i of course had on my sandles, long curly hair, band skirt, i made my own granola, hung out in the grass, etc... i just stood up for it, i went with the stereotypes and wore my freak flag high type thing i was in the band of hippies in high school, and pretty much became friends with everyone over time (it took me getting out of high school though) regardless of labels i have friends that are preps, drama nerds, computer/video game geeks, artists, musicans, some guys in the army, jocks, science majors...good people are good people regardless of what category they fall into
also, after my birthday extravaganza, a male friend of mine *cough*ex*cough*, totally made fun of Pan Spethlir's popped collar... he's an ass... but I had never noticed Pan Spethlir's collar popping tendancy before.... also I hope you know to whom I am refering... Our pimp of a blacksmith, yo!
Someone has to. I'll probably be gone again pretty quick though... I have about 8 thousand more words to write and then I won't be at the computer very much.
or u could just laugh at them and tell them its a great thing. u may come across as a ditz occassionally, but at least they get the message that u dont really care what they say cos they're only words
