put businesses out ...like oill drilling in Alaska?...you are damn straight. I do not support government agendas...no matter what they are. I support the environment and wildlife. Man is not the only life form on this planet, or haven't you noticed?
Tell me a source of energy that is as practical as oil and as cost effective? Every source that generally gets named fits neither bill, nor is able to be used in all places around the world. I still contend many of these environmental talking heads are connected to nuclear power, because they are and we all know how hazardous nuclear power is, it's a far bigger threat than oil is to the environment. Nuclear power at the moment is the only source of power that can compete with oil and be practical, atleast for the moment anyways.
Actually solar panels are a hot item, but did you know they have been frying birds and bats that fly over them? They also are not very practical in every location. If we were to completely eliminate the use of petrol? The infracture would literally slow to a crawl.
I think harnassing solar energy is in infancy still, and more funding and research is needed for it just like anything else.
i was thinking about computer networks the other day, and how if feasible that decentralized peer to peer networks are much better in many ways than a centralized model. anyway, if anyone understands this at all you can see how this can also be applied to other types of "network" such as the electrical distribution networks that deliver power to our homes and businesses. on september 4th, 1882 pearl street station was put into operation in lower manhattan. edison's system supplied direct current (DC) at 110volts DC as this was an ideal voltage for lighting, and was also reasonably safe. this voltage is not high enough to transmit long distances tho, and higher voltages would be far too dangerous to use directly for customers so a large city would need many of these generating stations every few miles in order to provide the entire city with power. some time later, nikola tesla invented alternating current and the AC transformer, so that power could be stepped up to extremely high voltages allowing for transmission over much greater distances with much lower losses. at the home, a transformer would convert the 13,000 or so volts back down to a usable voltage of 120/240v depending on where you live. today we have very large power plants transmitting power over a great distance to customers. large plants can be designed to be much more efficient and tighter control than many small generators so this works well for fossil fuel power plants. i am getting to my point though, and that is that when people talk about renewable energy sources, notably solar, they still refer to this centralized nature of a very large scale. and really, this makes perfect sense, as power companies would love to sell you some power that the sun provides for free once the cost of investment has been met if every building had a roof covered in solar cell panels, what portion of the electrical demand of the occupants could be met? some, most, all? it would depend on the weather, and obviously no power could be produced during the nighttime, but even so it would sigificantly reduced the need for power from the grid. with a battery system, any capacity not used could be stored in the batteries, and released later during the night, or times of less sunshine, or even if a high demand was suddenly needed to be met. extra power capacity not being utilized could be "sold" to the power grid to help cover other peoples demands as well. maybe we shouldn't think about selling it tho, it's a free resource, and if we all had solar panels they could be connected to the existing powerline infrastructure, and could get utlized very efficiently. as long as there are electric meters tho, someone will always try to purchase bigger solar panels, so they can profit from the sale of excess capacity .. eventually it would go full circle, with these people eventually having enough money to invest in bigger and bigger projects and eventually controlling the electricity rate, and also the cost of solar panels as well in order to secure their investment while making it unfeasible for any new investors with less capital. kinda the same situation that got us where we are in the first place. TL;DR: solar cell's can be manufactured now for less than $1/watt! Most of the cost is installation, and fee's, code compliance and stuff.
So you read one book by a very questionable author promoting junk science and now your an expert???? I suspect you lack the requisit skills and education to understand what you are reading. yet another un-educated, conspiracy addled fuck-tard has joined the herd.
and you do understand that is because of the stranglehold the oil industry has had on any research into alternative technologies, otherwise if funds and support had been made available over the last 5-6 decades into alternative energy techs, the world would be a much different place. The only thing fossil fuels offered was ease and convience and that equated to fast $$$$ for some people/governments. it is a nasty, messy, polluting in each step, non-renewable energy source and I'm pretty confidant that if you did a global historical study of negative impact on enviroment and quality of life between fossil fuels and nuclear, nuclear would hands down prove to be far safer and less detrimental to the enviroment and quality of life. The difference is damage from fossil fuels is slow, boring, un-noticed and insideous, whereas a nuclear mishap is fast and rather dramatic and immediatly garners attention. There are many different techs available, they just need funding and support to supplant fossil fuels. like the girl who invented teeny-tiny piezo crystal cells that generate voltage when compressed. They embedded thousands of them into a test sidewalk and the action of people walking on it generated enough electricity to power the street lights for that portion of sidewalk. still in it's infancy, but solid proof of concept and it could be utilized into walkways, roads, etc. There are more than a few different ways to tackle the issue.
I've seen it. It's not solar panels but solar array focused on a central tower and no bats obviously were harmed in the making of this statement.
Well, you are sort of penning them in before they've had a chance to reconsider...perhaps considering the addition of new perspectives the uneducated conspiracy addled fuck-tards could join the heard instead of the ridiculed.
I saw this great pics of you and your friends on that trip....the pics were of you in a car?....does it run on veggie oil or electricity?.....how much gas do you use going back and forth to those nature reserves and all the vet appts?........and what about your petfood you go through...have any idea of the carbon trail that stuff leaves?.....you don't support the gov agenda but you are surely supporting the gov everything else.including war.....only people who walk the walk get to criticize big oil..............it is akin to saying chewing gum is very bad for you while on your way to buy chewing gum and basically neil young is the only human I know who goes without big oil and I am on your side and not the op.....you just need better debating skills
I didn't pen anyone anywhere, they have painted themselves into that corner. I heard what they have stated and it's a bunch of ill-informed garbage, therefore the demotion to the "ridiculed" seems pretty straight forward to me.
There's things we can't change and there's things that we can. Oil was absolutely essential for getting us the progress we've made in the last 200 years. We also realize things now that we didn't at some point in the past, and while damage will inevitably occur, we should use the knowledge and technology that we have at any point to minimize the damage we do, and not accelerate it at a rapid pace in the name of some fast money. but I guess it don't matter, they'll die rich before it affects them in a significant way. If continued it will affect some people tho at some point in the future, but they won't be around to see it.
I am around to see the suffering of some animals due to our whatever, Ace, and that is enough for me. Hell, I cry over road kill every time I see, but I still need to go places sometimes...and hope to hell the whole time, we don't hit anything, and most times we don't. and PS, I don't drive. I just know as a human race we can do better with lots of things.
Well he or she didn't choose those monikers for themselves but your point is straightforward. Going forward it is beneficial as far as seeing fundamental change come to pass to allow for the ridiculed to become repentant, so to say, and learn some things. If we are with the herd we are sort of corralled even though there be no actual fence as it is the observation that makes it so. Actually a person can think one thing and think something entirely different in the next moment. You might be thinking with herd as a matter of just passing through to make up your mind. To ridicule puts unnecessary stigma on the learning process. People become less comfortable and less up front or forward reaching for fear of being smacked down. Doesn't mean that we are responsible for the reactions of another person but to loose the habit, makes learning more fun and therefor more facile for us all. If I remember correctly that solar array is focused to a collector to heat a boiler as so it is part of a steam electric generation plant.
Reminds me of someone I used to know who would go around attacking people and then when they reacted blamed them for their reactions.....lol
