Just to take a few here, the Bible was written in the land of Israel, so when it states Babylon is a land beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, this could only be the Roman Empire, if the Bible was written in a boat out in the indian ocean off the coast of Africa. Which it was not.

Also, when Babylon is destroyed, the Jews in Israel will be in control of there own country and not under any other nations occupation. And their Temple will be in existance at this time. This was not the case during the Roman Empires end.

Also, as powerful as Rome was, they did not have the ability to mount themselvs up into the heavens.

Also, all of the cities of Roman were not destroyed in one hours time, nor was Rome split into three sections by a global earthquake.

Also according to the Bible, after the destruction of Babylon, man and beast will have to flee the land and no one will ever be able to return to that land again. The Bible tells us people will not even be able to return to remove a rock for a foundatin, because the land will be fully polluted, and a danger to anyone who ventures near it. And it will be that way from generation to generation. This was not Rome.

India makes up over one billion people and in that sense speaks for about one sixth of the human race.
Its also has the largest 'media voice' in the planet when it comes to producing movies.

India is in a spectacular position on the planet.
China on one side, Middle East on the other, Africa down below and Russia up above.
All of these regions have major interests in India to some sort of extent or other.
Of course that is true for other nations like the USA and many many more.

Point here is that just as many of your (reworded) conditions seem to be met by India or Russian or China or Germany (etc) as they could the USA.

Actually my point is that it could be talking about a lot of things. I'm actually curious where this all came from and the contexts. Actually I think the poster above is probably more correct in that it's Rome. But since I said India:

I mean really this whole "prophecy is bullshit. I really agree that even if you wanted to stretch and call this a prophecy Rome fits the bill. I think America is even a bigger stretch. I mean WHAT invader from the north? Canada?

Yes I have heard of the Indian Ocean, and I can tell you, India does not own it. Babylon owns her sea.

Most of the Jews on earth will be found in either Israel or American. Not India.
The Bible speaks of Jews. The Bible did not concern itself in the text as to what Jews were practicing their faith, or what Jews were not.

India does not have a destroying mountain and we are not talking about a mountain range. We are talking about a specific mountain. America has such a mountain. Just outside of Colorado Springs is a place called the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. Deep below a granite mountain is Americas command, control, communication, and intelligence center. This place is where America coordinates and controls the North American Aerospace Defense Command. This complex was built for use in case of nuclear war.

The Great Voice in the world today comes from America, it is Americas military that shapes the focus of the world, and it is the United Nations that the nations of the world stream to, which is located here in America, not India.

And don't even try to compare India's products output to America's. And we are not talking about what India did in the past, we are talking about today.

And the only way India could be beyond the rivers of Ethiopia is if the Bible was written in the Sudan, which it was not. The Bible was written in the land of Israel. We are talking compass heading here, not your personal way of travel.

You could only fit these prophecies into any other country, if you are willing to gloss over the facts.

 

1st question: where do these quotes come from other than the Bible?
2: How do you know it is talking about our present time and not 1700 years ago?
3: What about invaders from the north?
4: Notice all the rampant assumptions going on. It's fun to assume!

 

These quotes only come from the Bible because the Bible is the only Book that knows the future in detail.
It is talking about are present time, because according to the Bible the Jews would have to of recently of returned from a world wide dispersion, and they would have to of retaken South Israel first, and then they would have to of retaken Jerusalem second. Also they would have to be surrounded by enemies who would want to drive them out of their land. Only in our time has this occured.

Also the Bible tells us there will be a Northern alliance of nations that in the end will try and drive the Jews from their land, and many of those nations named are Islamic nations we see today.

There are no rampant assumptions going on here, we are just believeing what is clearly being stated.

 

According to the Bible, it states that norther nations will destroy America. Another words more than one nation. And it is believed that these will be the same nations that will try and destroy Israel in the time of the end. The nations are listed in the Book of Ezekiel chapter 38, and if you do a quick read you will find many are Islamic nations the Bible is speaking about. Rome could not be this future Babylon, because the Jews were not in control of Israel or Jerusalem at that time. And the Bible tells us that when Israel will be attacked, they will be dwelling in safety both in Israel and Jerusalem, and an independent nation. And the Bible tells us that when the northern nations attack Israel it will be God that will make war against those nations, and He will destroy five sixths of their invading army. And it will take the Jews seven months to bury all the dead from that army in order to cleanse the land. Also the Bible tells us all of this armies dead will be buried in the vally of Hamongog. This has never taken place, and it remains for the future. India nor Rome could of fulfill that prophecy.

Nobody owns any Ocean but at least India has its ocean named for it and known for it.

Well for what its worth to you the passage refers to Babylon itself as the 'destroying mountain'.
Its calling the whole of this 'Babylon' a destroying mountain.

But then what is the context or reasoning for calling a whole city a 'mountain'.
Well actually that really does make sense when you know that original babylon (and so many other great cities) were quite literally built like mountains on hills.
And even moreso they were able to be 'destroying mountains'.

The USA is about 4% of the worlds population and it is not shaping the focus of the world anymore than Russia or China or the E.U. does right now.

btw.. the passage you cited does not say the world got rich over 'future babylon' starting in 1940, 50 etc.
The world has been getting rich off of India for centuries (which LENDS support here) and it still is.

The passage does NOT ask for 'compass headings' and this is the least likely explanation.
Yes it is more likely its refering to ways of travel as this is what would be meaningful.
Im in Israel and I want to get to India - I am not walking through the desert am I.
I go down the Red Sea of course PAST THE RIVERS OF ETHIOPIA and I come out straight into the Arabian sea with nothing but INDIA coming up next.

You know, it really does sound alot like a modern day Roman Empire in Europe and its 'children' in the New World.

America sits on many waters, America has the Alantic Ocean to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the five Great Lakes to the north, the Gulf of Mexico to the south, the Missouri and the Mississippe Rivers run through the center of the nation, and Alaska borders the Beauport sea.

And America has it's own sea called Lake Michigan. Within the continental United States there is a sea we call Lake Michigan. It is 110 miles wide and 300 miles long. It is an Inland Sea. AND AMERICA owns it.

Most of the Jews have left Europe, and now the Jews are leaving Russia. When talking to a Jew in Russia you no longer ask if he is leaving, you ask when he is leaving. And America has the second largest Jewish population in the world. Only Israel beats out America, and not by much. God speaks of His people by blood, not by who pratices the faith.

God states that He will destroy Babylons destroying Mountain. And He will roll the rocks down from it. Many of the States don't have rocks to roll down. He is talking about a specific Mountain.

Population does not control world conditions, it is military might. And it is America that has been involved in almost every major war for the last one hundred years. America was involved in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Viet Nam, Iraq, quait, Panama, Spanish American War, The Cold War, ect, ect, ect, ect,. How many World Wars has India been involved with? How many millions of your population were involved in any of these conflicts? Was it India that ended World War II with an Atomic Bomb? America literally has the power to destroy the world, just from her subs alone.

And many of the jobs in India are there because of American companies, not the other way around. It was Americans massive war production that brought Hitler to his knees, and the Kiser to. And it was Americas ability to produce the Star Wars program that ended the cold war when Russia went bankrupt. And if it were not for America's involvement in supplying Russia with arms during World War II, Russians would all be speaking German right now. And Russia gave into America's might because they nolonger could afford to keep the cold war going. This was not India that did this, it was AMERICA.

And where was the Bible written? Israel. So when the prophecy stated that Babylon was beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, if you were standing in Israel and looking SOUTH you would cross over the rivers of Ethiopia then pass over the Southern Polar Ice Cap and then cross three oceans. The VERY FIRST CONTINENT you would arrive at, would be North America. And that is where the United States resides.

funny the way xtians were(allegedly) just as obsesed with oil 2 millenia ago as they are today.

Pity jesus couldn't have been a bit more prophetic and warned them about stuff like that instead of all this arcane BS about blood, another favoured liquid among xtians along with, of course, the usual alchohol to keep the brain functions under par.

(in this context it is worth noting that actually, xtians would have no idea that the brain even exists if they'd succeeded in their attempts to supress the early anatomists)

You could paraphrase this quote for today:

1 -give us some oil, our cars are running out.
