Paris Under Attack.

It's pretty much standard for the news section, and Aerianne has explained it quite clearly in this thread. I'm losing patience with you really fast.

 

I'm sure there is plenty to see. You can see that stuff in the movies too. It doesn't make it real and at the very least...it doesn't mean it happened in the way that's being presented on TV. Let me guess who it was......Muslims, right? And now France will attack someone in retaliation and everyone will support it because we are all French citizens today? Am I close? I don't think I need to bother turning the tv on.

I'm sorry you are so convinced about stuff in the media you didn't even see. It made it 100% clear this attack is real. The things they are not certain about yet are still left open and investigations are still running. So they only present the things they know so far.


edit: are you also doubting if there really is an IS in Syria and Iraq? If not, you know why such an event happened in Paris right? Because France is already fighting IS.... they also have plenty of support for that already so you're not making that much sense if you are implying that is why such an attack would be staged or presented with false facts.

Unfortunately most news agencies are saying that the borders are "closed" and unfortunately that is what most of the media is today: inaccurate.

What it actually means is that there will apparently be border controls despite the Schengen agreement.

 

What about land borders? English Channel tunnel?

Most tourist attractions in Paris are closed today. I assume they have adequate security, but any big crowd is an easy target.

 

The blame game will go on for months or years.

Instead it would be a gesture of compassion for the lives of citizens simply enjoying an evening that have died to take a little time to mourn them and to have sympathy for their friends and families that now have to deal with their loss.

 

I have to resist the urge to be rude to you in honour of those who were slaughtered in the streets for daring to live outside a theocracy.

Think about which is more likely, and consider how difficult it would be to pull of a "trick" like this, considering what a small world it is, especially in europe, and especially in paris.

There is something to be said about the freedom destroying laws that always materialize after events like this.

They'll never let a good crisis go to waste.

 

Really? If only they had lived in a theocracy.....they may still be alive but they stood their ground and refused a theocracy steadfastly....choosing to die instead? I think not. And this is the kind of thing that the media leads the public into.....a narrative. Maybe a bunch of people did die.....but I still don't think we'll get the story without a false narrative.

 

I don't think you know what you are talking about (same with wizardofodd here). European citizens do not yet experience any freedom limitations because of this. If there will be extra border control it will only cost us a bit more time. We can still do anything we used to.

But on what exactly are you basing this? You even judged the material in the media without even watching it.

 

I don't see how anyone could think this was staged with so many eyewitnesses. I have a hard time believing the eagles of death metal are in on some elaborate plot.....

With all world politics there is probably a lot more here than meets the eye or than the media will report on, but that doesn't mean anything was faked

New laws don't pass overnight. Give it another week or so.
European citizens don't experience any freedom limitations? What the heck are you talking about? Your phone lines are just as tapped as the rest of ours, your airports have full naked body scanners, your passports have tracking chips, in some cities you can't walk 10 meters without getting caught on face recognition camera, etc. etc.

 

I think you put it in a sligthly exaggerated way For example, all our phone lines are tapped, all the time? How are you so sure? I'm not sure about our passports, although I would prefer no tracking chip (or optional at least ) But regardless of that, not one of those things restrict me in my freedom. They may restrict some drug dealers, hooligans etc. (and maybe even some terrorists). Like I said unfortunately I don't believe you really know what you're talking about, because you say too many things with certainty that aren't so.
Let's wait a week or two, or a month Most new laws don't pass overnight indeed.
