I'm no inventor... I refine that which has been so ably developed. I look at it as teamwork... without the great idea I'd have nothing to add to!
do they not have health visitors in America? oh and I wouldn't be worried about life sentances, those two will be dead the moment they step foot in jail, espiecally the mother S
i actually had some twit in my co-op complain to me that breastmilk wasn't vegan when i was nursing my daughter.
no i just ignored her and continued nursing. why reward stupidity with attention? especially since i'm not even vegan and neither are the kids.
wow, just wow.... Do they say what the babies weight was when it was born? And I know when Arianna was born by 6 weeks I had to take her to the doc two times. lol Kitty...thats nuts. People have opinions about everything, don't they? Lord, how could feeding your kid the thing mother nature gave ya for them be wrong?
no i was just kidding. in the uk new mothers have health visitors, do they not have that in the states? S
sweetheart, half of us americans don't even get health care! silly boy, i don't know what your brits spend your taxes on, but ours are for illegal vanity wars for oil, not the well-being of our citizens. when are you going to accept the inevitable truth that wellness is a priveledge for those who can afford it, not a right of the unwashed masses! typically, though, for those lucky enough to have health care, we'd only get a visiting nurse if there was a problem with the baby, such as prematurity or something. i had visiting nurses for both my kids who were preemies due to nightmarish blood pressure problems during pregnancy. i would prefer, however, that the nosey nurses and social workers keep the hell out of my family's life. as far as breastfeeding being offensive, you'd be amazed how many people are shocked and horrified at the very idea. nursing mothers have been thrown off of planes and accused of "terrorism" - i kid you not. people are stupid. yes, i'm in one of my moods tonight.
you get a health visitor free over here, it is shocking that people in the states have to pay to have a child delievered in hospital, over here mothers get a package of care. and most people don't like health care workers in the home, however in this case the nosey nurse could have well of saved that babies life S
The only people who have any rights at all here in the U.S. are those with money. The only rights the rest of us have are to shut up and pay our taxes. The only time anyone in the government pretends to give the slightest damn about the common man and woman is when (s)he is running for office.
hell yeah. there are widely varying opinions about birth practices here, and laws vary from state to state. my cousin and his wife had a homebirth with a midwife. their rowan is quite a healthy little boy.
you know people moan about living in the uk, however we get free health care, benefits if we are unemployed, sickness benefits if we are long term ill, housing benefits to pay our rent if we are unemployed, single and jobless mothers can apply for free housing. it doesn't all come at the drop of a hat but at least we have it all S
none of that would prtect an infant from whackjob parents though not saying vegans are whackjobs, but those two were.
Some of those things are available here too. The free housing for mother and actually low income families is called section 8. Free health care for low income is called access. There are a lot of the same benefits here just not everyone knows about them.
section 8 housing is low-rent, but it's not free. low-income helathcare in NYS is medicaid, not access. very limted benefits are available for the very low income, but the working poor and much of the middle-class is falling through the huge holes in the safety net.
Actually section 8 can be free dependent on the state. That is the problem with the US it is different state to state.
A health visitor who would be trained in knowing the signs when a parent isn't coping, signs of neglect and abuse would be able too S
