Went to the local gourmet burger place last night. It was cold - only 10 degrees. I thought I would be the only person out in bare feet, but no, after I struggle to get through the door on my crutches, I see four guys in their mid twenties at the counter ahead of me, all in bare feet.

Now that it is getting warmer I typically do my weekend errands on crutches with my foot bare and rarely see anyone else doing the same. However last Saturday I encountered a young woman doing the same thing! We crutched into a nearby coffee shop and compared notes about the pleasures and hazards of getting around on one bare foot. It turned out she was just visiting which was why I had not seen her before. She was from Florida where where she spends a lot more time with her foot bare than I do.

Sandals and flip-flops are still too famous and fashionable where I live, so I still have to see another person daring to bare his/her soles to the ground... warm temperatures even prompt public transport employees to adapt, as I could see the driver of the tram I took home entering his vehicle wearing dark blue bermuda shorts and bare feet in Birks, as he got in and went to the front of the tram into his little "cockpit".

Just back from from a bare foot, bare chested hobble around the supermarket. Another cold wet night, I was almost tempted to wear a shirt, but I love the feeling of the wet ground under my bare foot, and the rain on my bare back. This time I took the moon boot off my injured foot, so both feet were bare, and wet.

Anyway, as I crutched in, a girl in her mid 20's was coming out, pushing a trolley full of groceries, and in bare feet.

Saw a nine year old boy get up from a resturant table and naturally leave his shoes behind to walk out of the store bare until his parents scholded him for it. I showed them the bottoms of my feet and explained that I spend most of my time and do all of my hiking and rock climbing barefoot. The parents just shook their heads with their mouths hanging open in amazement. The kid smiled. I love being a kid. I never want to grow up.

Was out running errands today and the local high school cheerleaders were having a carwash fundraiser. Several of them were out on the corner barefoot with car wash signs and directing cars into the parking lot, and a couple of the ones washing the cars were also barefoot. Then I went into the post office, and saw a guy in his thirties go in barefoot to check his post office box.

I was going downtown to sing with my choir for senior graduation, and I see this family with 7 different people, and this little 8 or 9 year old kid was barefoot, without any sign of having worn shoes recently. I think he noticed I was barefoot as well. (Had to wear "formal shoes" during graduation though)

Did some barefoot skateboarding. Another skateboarder started doing it too and never put his shoes back on.

Saw two yesterday: a barefoot mom walking on the sidewalk with a couple young kids, and a teenage girl getting something from the trunk of her car, which was parked on the street.

Finally saw someone in Bulwell without shoes yesterday, a young mum with a crying baby in one arm and no sign of shoes anywhere - we winked at each other.

After work last Saturday, I went to the center of the town and on exiting the bus, saw two teenage girls exiting a different bus, walking towards the escalator. One of them was barefoot, carrying her highly fashionable high-heeled sandals in her hands. Not a real barefooter, but rather an emergency one, since I could see a small wound on her right heel, as she stepped on the escalator just ahead of me. Even though her walking barefoot resulted from her shoes chafing on her heels, it was nice to see someone else feeling the advantages of barefooting first-hand (of foot, rather).

Since she was ahead of me, riding the escalator, I took the opportunity to take a look at her feet (and take out my cell phone, too):

Maybe I should've truncated the photo a bit more to show less legs and more feet... especially to show the injury on her heel.

    :D

It does indeed look a bit like a typical voyeur shot...

Despite perfectly warm and pleasant weather today, the counter of other barefooters in public stayed on number zero during my little trip to the barber and to the supermarket. So, no new footshots today.

    Wiggling bare toes,

I saw what looked like a high schooler barefoot in a Best Buy. It didn't seem like he was having any problems with employees, and they were all over the place talking to everyone!

Now that I think about it. Best Buy hasn't been giving any problems. I went there a couple of times this past month and was never hassled.

In the winter strangers love to use it as an excuse to talk to me like me being barefoot is a conversation starter

  20. I purchased a flat-screen TV at Best Buy by being Barefoot! It WAS my Best Buy!
