I saw my first public barefooter in forever today!

I was at the video game store and there was a big dude with a bit of a beard and long-ish hair. No shoes. I would've said something, but he seemed kind of out of his element, like this was not a regular thing. Oh well. Too bad I wasn't barefoot myself; probably would have been a good conversation.

Saw a guy, late 20's, pumping gas barefoot in a very republican, older crowd city in Orange County, then a few miles down the street a lady running in a jogging outfit down the sideway, mid 30's, barefoot. Also, yesterday, saw a woman running down the street near the beachfront in san diego wearing vibram 5 fingers.

These posts resemble messages from the underground reporting activity in different regions.
We do have a pious society with strict rules. You can run a red light if you are in a hurry or take a cell call while in a face-to-face conversation with someone, but you damned well better be wearing shoes when you do it.

After my first week of barefooting a girl drove by in a parking lot and was like, "omg I don't like wearing shoes either! I don't have any on right now!"

Currently being in town for my usual Saturday urban barefooting shopping trip I met one barefoot young man passing me on the ped zone on my way to my usual outdoor-seating café (sitting there in the sun right now, cherishing the fact that still people forget to encrypt their WiFi networks... :D ). Other than that, no other barefooters to spot so far - only lots of flip-flops and people giving me "The Look"TM for sitting barefoot in a café and typing away on my mini laptop.

Wiggling happy bare toes in the sun (phew, it's WARM over here today!!),

Amazingly three between yesterday and today. None probably really into it in a major way, but here goes. A guy moving stuff around in the back of his pickup, a guy (maybe in his 20's) sitting on his steps reading and another guy watering his garden. Also I saw a girl in her 20's sitting on her porch steps wearing sandals. I am still puzzling the latter out......I just don't get it.....

Last night there was a woman walking barefoot down the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. No sign of shoes although she did have a big cloth bag over her shoulder.

Today I saw something weird, since the barefoot person I saw today wasn't barefoot at first. When I had finished the office day, waiting for the bus to take me to the town center, I watched as a silver VW van (newer T5 model, no cute old T1 or T2 hippie van) stopped at the bus stop on the opposite side of the road, about 50 meters away. The side door slid open, and a young man stepped out, wearing bermuda-style baggy shorts and a T-shirt, and went to the waste-paper basket at the bus stop, stuffing something inside. The weirdness starts, as he then pulled up his right foot, pulled off his sock (only then I realized he stepped out of the van sockfooted), stuffed that into the trashbin, too, repeated that with his left sock, then stepped into the van, barefoot, door slid shut and off it went.

That was something to leave me stare, open-mouthed for a second. It might well be, that before taking off his socks he stuffed his old shoes into the trash... I didn't go and check, since my bus arrived only a minute afterwards... but that truly was a first-timer as far as watching someone get barefoot in an unconventional way is concerned.

Other than that, no other barefooters around, though.

Wiggling toes, that got surprised today,

20 y/o neighbor was walking his dog this morning; barefoot and shirtless
aside from him, nothing. it could be that the college is out for the summer.

@ganesha - that was strange, good but strange

You know what? Strange was tuned up a few notches this Thursday, only two days after that event...

This time, it happened at the bus stop where I do indeed stand regularly and wait after work to take my bus on the way home, that someone must have thought "There's that barefoot guy standing here every day... Let's give him a gift" and left - as you can see in the picture below - a cardboard box with a pair of hiking-style sneakers.

Well, OK, it might not have been aimed at me, but rather a rude example of littering, but again, a strange coincidence after that weird incident two days before... someone losing his footwear at a bus stop - again.

that is weird! but cool. I go barefoot (i am a part time barefooter), to the mailbox everyday, and to the store, and YOU wouldnt believe the weird looks I get. It is pretty funny, considering where I live , no one ever goes barefoot, unless you are a child. and even then it is rare.

it's so weird how people are so anti barefeet, yet they see their own everyday!! We were all born that way and a lot of us will die that way, so why the weirdness about it.

My friend and I walked all the way through the city with her canvass painting barefoot and so many people stared you'd have thought we were completely naked!!

I went to the biggest mall in town yesterday, and it was very cold - only 3degrees. What do a see as soon as I go in, but two teenage guys in bare feet. Plenty of people in flip flops, but only the two guys (and me) barefooted.
